Hello, BwayBallerina! I'm a junior at Barnard, and a dancer myself.
I was in a similar position when I was applying to college - didn't want to major in dance, but wanted to have ample dance opportunities. Barnard has six levels of ballet, six levels of modern, jazz, african dance, tap, choreography, contact improv, repertory (and much more!) plus tons of academic dance courses.
Through the Barnard dance department, there are two concerts per year. One in the Fall, at Dance Theater Workshop downtown, and another in the Spring, at Miller Theatre over at Columbia. Non-majors are able to perform; they just have to go through the same (/intense) auditions as everyone else.
There is also a completely student run/directed/choreographed group that performs once per semester. The kinds of pieces do vary, but it's a fun way for those not as serious in dance to still get the chance to perform. There are also a ton of former professional dancers in the General Studies program at Columbia, who are at the moment in the process of creating some kind of student group that would put on primarily more balletic and a little more professional dance performances.
The Barnard Dance department website has recently been revamped, and there's a ton of great info on it:

I recognize the addiction to being alive.
