I am buying a house/apartment in the next six months. I am considering all the Queens, Brooklyn and Jersey City. Anyone know the good areas in Jersey City located near the PATH?
the downtown area (near grove street) has really come along way..some beautiful brownstones.
A friend of mine has an apartment in Liberty Towers, about three blocks away from the Exchange Place station. It's a great area, but since it's so close to the river, it can get quite cold in the winter when the wind whips up.
Edit: obviously referring to Jersey City.

Those sections named are the nicest in Jersey City. Keep in mind that the cost of living there isn't that much less than NYC these days!

Grove Street makes me drool. But like someone above said, you can almost find something in New York for the same price. Though chances are, your apartment will be slightly larger in Jersey City.
I live in jersey City, but I couldn't afford any of the really nice places. My apartment isn't bad, but I do have to be careful coming home from a show.
I live in the grove street section of Jersey City and love it. The thing is you can still find deals here and have a nice sized apartment in a historic brownstone for a considerable amount less than what you would pay in Manhatten. Actually...I think the apartment below my in my building is currently vacant.
As for safety....at least in my neighborhood I've always felt safe coming home at all different times. It's right off the PATH train so there's always people around.
Well hopefully I will be buying a house not an apartment.
A good friend of mine is a realtor in that area, and lives there. If you want a contact number, please let me know.
Sure! That would be fantastic.
