I was wondering if anyone read this book and what their thoughts are on it. It was addicting, a total page turner. Especailly the end, great clincher.
Thoughts, comments?
I haven't read anything he's written....he's hot, though.
I'm not sure if I agree on it being his best work, I'm partial to Fight Club myself.
I read it last year and I loved it. I agree that it's completely addicting. I thought I'd pick it up every now and then when I was ahead in my work, but I ended up reading it in two days.
This will be unpopular, I'm sure, but I found it quite slow, and, even knowing that Palahniuk is big on amazing endings, I can't seem to finish it.
I loved this book and actually have never read Fight Club even though I have seen the movie countless times.
Love the avatar by the way.

I loved this book (I've also read Fight CLub, Lulabye, part of survivor, part of Choke and part of the one about the Artist that go to the resort, which i can't remember the title of currently). Chuck is an amazing talent.
I really enjoyed it, it's seriously effed up like all his work is, but it's possibly the most effed up of all his books I think. I have enjoyed all his books up to and sadly not including the non fiction collection he put out a little while back, which bored me to tears. Haven't read Haunted yet.
I attended a reading when he was promoting Diary and he didn't read from the book but instead read a short story he'd written, called Guts. The London date was the ONLY one on his tour where nobody had to leave the room/fainted/threw up. Fun.
I didn't know he did readings. I'm going to have to check that out. Right now, I'm currently reading Choke. I can't really get into it though. I think I'm going to have to put it down and start it at a later date. I think I'm expecting it to be like Diary.
Iwearshoes---Thanks.
I liked Diary more than Lullaby and Choke, but not as much as Fight Club. Right now I'm reading Survivor, which is pretty good so far. Obviously, I'm a big fan of Chuck Palahniuk's work.

Oh yeah, Guts...that's the only thing of his I've read (so far).
I think Survivor is his best work but then I am also in the minority who really enjoyed Choke but didn't love Lullaby that much. His second best book is easily Invisible Monsters.
And cabarethed, where did you read Guts?
Is Matt Fox in it? And does he take his shirt off? ( i am going to love this now)
How did I miss this thread. I am a Chuck addict. I read this book when it first came out, and I personally found it one of his strongest books, maybe because I related to it as an art student at the time. Not sure that the ending did it for me though.

The ending was kind of cheap, but the very last page, the letter, excellent. IMO
"Guts" is actually in Haunted, and I read it while eating...umm...yeah...
I love Chuck Palahniuk; he's one of my favorite authors, though I haven't finished Haunted (barely started), and sometimes I find his books very, well, unsettling (duh). I remember loving the ending of Diary but just being grossed out by that guy doing that thing with the earring...ugh. My favorite book of his is Invisible Monsters because I just feel it has a very human side to it, and something in Choke just appeals to me. Did I read somewhere they want to turn Choke into a movie? If so, good luck with that one...
Well now I HAVE to buy Haunted.
I love Diary! Completely agree with those who think it's his best work so far... I took it on the plane with me (L.A. to Vegas), didn't finish it on the flight, but could not put it down until I was *done*- I got so sucked into it that I had to finish it off in the hotel room before officially 'starting' my vacation. :)
The very last page, with the letter? absolute genius!
And y'all who have attended his readings are very brave- I am fine with reading to myself but I know if I ever heard him reading his stuff I'd probably be the 'have to leave the room' anecdote for that day.

A friend of mine emailed it to me. Wasn't it published in Playboy?
