Anyone recommend some good hand lotion?

My hands get really, really dry during the cold seasons. As a result, they turn red and can get itchy. Can anyone recommend some good hand lotion?

I know this seems like a ridiculous question, especially when I could probably just walk to the local drugstore and pick up a random bottle of hand lotion. But the market is just so saturated...

Can anyone recommend any brand that works really well, isn't extremely greasy and won't prevent me from paying my rent next month?

The Body Shop has some good ones--body butters and body lotions that moisturize without being greasy. You can ask for samples of all of them to try before you buy.

After experimenting with literally dozens of brands, the best I've found is Curel. It absorbs quickly, so it's not so greasy that you feel like you can't touch anything for 10 minutes. On the other side, the moisturizing also lasts long enough so you don't have to keep reapplying. I keep a bottle in my bathroom and use it right after I wash my hands, but that's usually all I need. And I've gotten compliments. re: Anyone recommend some good hand lotion?

If you need something stronger, try Neutrogena Hand Cream, but use sparingly, not as your primary lotion. I haven't needed this since I lived in upstate NY with hard water, though.

Avoid anything being sold due to it's fruity/flowery fragrance. It's glorified perfume, not lotion.

Before you go to bed, put a hand cream on then wear light cotton gloves. If your hands are really dry/cracked, use Vaseline/petroleum jelly.

I use the cotton gloves/booties for when my hands get bad. I really like Bath & Body Works antibacterial hand cream. It's like Purel and hand cream got married.

When I was a Pharmacy Technician, the Pharmacists would always recommend Eucerin to customers who asked this question.

I was recommended Cetaphil because I have sensitive skin. However, I didn't like it because it too was too thin and greasy. Now I use lubridermn which seems to work well.

I also have eczema which I am prescribed a steroid cream but I only use it occasionally. I'm sure things will get worse though because I just moved back up north from Florida.

I was recommended Cetaphil when I was on accutane and disliked it for the same reasons. I could look in the mirror and see it on my skin.

Not the italics.:)

Exzema here too and the fun for the season has started already. I have a prescritpion mixture of Ultravate and Moisturel but I kinda like Suave's Cocoa and Shea Butter if my hands are just dry and not cracked.

Another vote for Curel, for all the reasons orangeskittles stated. It's the ONLY one I've ever found that isn't greasy.

I vote for Curel also.

Just be sure to rub the lotion on its skin whenever its told or else it gets the hose again.

I also like the body butters/lotions at The Body Shop. They really will give you a sample of whatever you like. My favorites are the coconut or aloe body butters and the hemp or almond hand lotions. They are made with all natural ingredients and don't irritate skin (which is great for sensitive skinned folk).

I use Vaseline Intensive Care Hand Lotion during the day because it isn't greasy or sticky.
Aquaphor is what my dermatologist recommends for really chapped hands, but since it has the consistency of Vaseline, I usually wait until evening, apply the lotion, and then wrap my hands in a warm moist towel for 20 minutes or so. The mositure helps the skin absorb the lotion, and it is really comforting, too.

I should add that I try to use paraben-free products, and most of the beauty products out there have parabens on the ingredient labels. Body Shop has some paraben-free products, but I think the body butters might have this preservative in them, which is why I use them sparingly.
