You rock, DG. Your posts have consistently been some of the most articulate and well-thought-out on this board.

re: applause for dgrant.

BroadwayBoobs = I love your new icon. I am not a fan of the film version of Man of La Mancha (it happens to be my favorite show of all time, though) but I DO love the look of Sophia Loren as Aldonza. To me, she is exactly the look the character should have (at least at that time in her career) What a stunningly beautiful serving wench!
"I am no one, I'm nothing, I'm only Aldonza - The Whore!!!"
"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

DGrant---you rule my world.

Everytime I read a post by you, I think of my friend who also has the last name Grant and a name beginning with a D. You two are a lot alike.

I like me some DGrant.
"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

re: applause for dgrant.

DG already knows how much he means to me, so I don't have to repeat it again... For me, he was also the first person to welcome me around here and has helped me through some major decisions. He's the best big brother a guy could have...even if he WAS always trying to get me to play twister!re: applause for dgrant.

re: applause for dgrant.

Yay DGrant!

Thanks for letting me babble about my weird views on topics and even if you don't agree, accepting them as valid opinions. Too many people on this board post with the objective of converting everyone to agree with them, but you're one of the rare people that practices what they preach and accepts everyone.

re: applause for dgrant.

A thread worthy of being bumped.

I hope DG knows how I feel about him. I don't have the same way with words that he does, but I've done the best I can to tell him what me means to me. He is worthy of all the applause I can give.

I raise my drink to him.

And, because he'll get a kick out of it: "bottoms up"! re: applause for dgrant.

re: applause for dgrant.

As our dear Margo once pointed out in another thread of this nature, it’s a bit of a dilemma for the person who is the ‘center of attention’. Knowing that a reply will bump the thread to the top of the list makes replying seem so attention-starved. And yet, not responding at all would appear callous and ungrateful. I’m going to choose – once – to send a thank you out to the kind and thoughtful individuals who decided to add a little sunshine to my day.

I did read through the thread – both old and new posts – and would like to say just one thing. There is a slightly reoccurring theme of ‘community’ that runs through many of the posts – and that, to me, is what’s worth celebrating. I’ve said on more than one occasion that every group is only defined by the individuals involved. If there are some that are appreciative of and welcoming to my contributions, I certainly feel humbly grateful. But I’m also aware that those interactions are two-way streets, and that my affection and respect for them is completely reciprocal.

If there is any purpose to a thread of this nature, it is to re-enforce the reality that we are all unique in our presence and contribution to this community – as indeed we are in the world at large. Rather than take the time to celebrate individual contributions, it would be preferable to honor the board as a whole – for that is the creation that we all may rightfully claim and be proud of.

All that being said – and not denying that I feel very grateful for the ‘applause’ (especially in this time of personal sadness) – let’s just let this go back to the vault, and carry on discussing the really important matters that we all face - like politics, religion, sexuality – and what Madonna is doing today.
