It's a big, big week for indie superstars (not the contradiction in terms that once was) Arcade Fire. Saturday night they headline the Osheaga Festival in their hometown of Montreal, Sunday night in Boston, Monday in Phillie, Tuesday their new, excellent cd "The Suburbs" is released and then Wednesday and Thursday they're at Madison Square Garden. The Thursday night show is to be streamed live on the web, with filming directed by Terry Gilliam. Viewers will have a chance to pick preferred camera angles and other cool interactive options.
I'll be at Sunday's show. Anybody else seeing them this week?

I'll be at Thursday's MSG show. Saw an article on the Guardian's site about Terry Gilliam helming the live stream. Sounds interesting. I guess there's also going to be some sort of in-venue element too (projecting photos fans are sending in...something like that).
Looking forward to it...let us know what you think of Sunday's show in Boston!

I think you might get to send in pics of your own suburbs (if you have a suburb) to be shown onstage.
I'm a little too excited to see them. Every other time they've passed through I have been out of town.

When she heard that the filming was to be directed by Gilliam, my roommate said that she fully expected the camera equipment to catch fire. Sadly, she has a point. I'll be watching the webcast in case disaster somehow doesn't strike, though. :P
(I wish I could see the Philadelphia show, but I'm leaving town Sunday morning. Argh.)

17 songs, leaned heavily on The Suburbs material. Was glad my friend made me a leaked copy because I would have been a bit lost if I hadn't been playing the album non-stop since Wednesday. (I'll buy the real thing when it's released on Tuesday, although it was on sale at the show.)
During "No Cars Go" if I were required to ask which Muppet each band member resembled, it would have been 8 Animals, no question.
There will be a time later in the tour when the whole thing will be like "Wake Up," which was sublime.

Never heard of them but I am listening to the CD on NPR and I like most of what I have heard so far.

They're pretty great. Check out "Antichrist Television Blues," from their 2nd album, "Neon Bible." It's sung from the point of view of Jessica and Ashley Simpson's father.
