TV icon Art Linkletter has died.
One of my favorites was he asked questions to school kids. One I remember was "What did your parents tell you before coming on the program?" One kid said: "Order the most expensive steak at dinner."

Another link to my childhood gone. Sad.
Same here D2.
I don't think I've ever heard of Art Linkletter, but the fact that he and his wife have been married since 1935. Wow!

A friend who was a grade older than me in my two years at a Catholic school performed a speech for a competition called "Kindergarten" that was inspired by Art Linklater's Kids Say The Darnedest Things", which what my friend says at the end of the speech in playing the dual roles.
The rant speech is about a kindergarten student "hating" it.

I remember watching him when I was a kid. Very nice man.
I didn't realize that he was still around. 97 is a good run. RIP.

I loved watching House Party in the afternoon. He seemed like such a gentle man. RIP.
Gosh Art's been around forever it seems.
I remember watching him when I was little, he was such a fun, easygoing guy, he really could get kids to say the darndest things.
I also recall that his daughter died from a drug overdose and in the grieving process he recorded the song "Call Collect." Not something that would be aired today (heavy and maudlin), but obviously he wanted to send an anti-drug message and he did just that.
No disrespect to Mr. Linkletter but I thought he had already passed.

Agreed.

Yep...
I hate to say it as well, but I thought he passed a while ago, too. I grew up watching Linkletter.
I remember feeling this way about Red Buttons. (Does anyone else feel like Red Buttons somehow makes the They Will Be Missed Montage at every Oscars?)
