I didn't even know ATWT was still on...lol.
I had faith in AMC when they made Erica Kane's daughter gay. She's had several girlfriends. Hell, last I heard, she had been raped and had a baby by her rapist. Why do the lesbians always have to get raped?

Well, the inevitable backlash has unfortunately begun. Like I said before, there are some scary posters on the CBS boards...

Did anyone see the Noah, Luke, and Emma scene this week? I thought it was a really good scene, and I appreciated that the old lady wasn't the "homophobe" (as she stated in the scene with Holden). I guess that single honor went to Lily earlier in the year!
I think the Luke/Noah scenes are really good, I just want to see more!

Just to be inclusive, I'm impressed with how far they've gone with the lesbian storyline on AMC. Riegel & Braun are both terrific actresses and I really enjoy them together.

Damn! I had no idea that Braun was on AMC now. I actually grew to love her as Carly on GH.
How long has that storyline been going on? I need to do some major catching up on the site that shall not be named!

I liked her as Carly as well.
I guess this storyline has been going on for 3-4 months? I just started watching it again a few months ago and I think it was a fairly new storyline.

I forgot that this thread was even here.
Well, it only took Luke and Noah over 500 days since they met to do the deed. Those gay boys sure have incredible will power!
Hopefully, ATWT will finally make true on its promise to treat Nuke just like it does any other couple on the show.

For Pete's sake, it's 2008. I hope they do as well. I can understand the caution of the producers in a way....I'm sure alot of long time fans of the show are old ladies who are probably freaking. But I'm glad soaps and other media are starting to treat gay relationships more candidly (I don't know if that's the right word, but you know what I mean).
Are they still teens on the show though? Because as a mom, that's the ONLY part that would bother me. I don't think it's responsible to show any teens having sex on the soaps. Even though I know teens are boinking in real life. I'm not stupid or anything.

They are college students. My reaction to this is "FINALLY!!!! " And it was so random after putting it off for every freaking reason under the sun including a green card marriage and Noah wanting to join the army.
I'm not sure why the reluctance though. If the old ladies don't like it, they wouldn't like all the flirting and kissing and talking about doing it. Or the step grandfather that hit on Luke.
I just hope they don't put Luke and Noah on the backburner now. Now that they've finally done it, I keep wondering what their next storyline will be. This one took practically 2 years. Is there more to Noah and Luke?

Posted: 1/14/09 at 10:55pmI think Braun joined the show on October 30th, shameless.

My sister and I still argue over who was the better Carly- she says Sarah Brown, I think Tamara Braun. We both hate New Carly.
Apparently, Noah went to college with me and so did the gay black guy on Greek. Huh.
Wanting life but never knowing how
#38re: As The World Turns Historic Kiss!
Posted: 1/15/09 at 8:18amI liked Tamara Braun better as Carly as well. And no, I don't like the new Carly either.

Thanks SF and MrMW! I'll have to try and catch up.
I LOVED Sarah Brown as Carly, which is why it took me a really long time to warm to Braun, but I did eventually. Who is playing Carly these days?

Posted: 1/15/09 at 8:54amLaura Wright. She was on Loving and then The City. I like her as Carly.

Posted: 1/15/09 at 9:24amOh, ok, yeah, I've seen her once or twice. I wasn't sure if there was another girl now. I like Wright, but she didn't really seem like Carly to me.

No, Brown was definitely the best. I never cared for Braun, but I like Wright's portrayal.
Sorry for the threadjack!

Posted: 1/15/09 at 9:27pmThey're talking about Carly on General Hospital, not As the World Turns, hermione.

Quoting hermionejuliet: I just hope they don't put Luke and Noah on the backburner now. Now that they've finally done it, I keep wondering what their next storyline will be. This one took practically 2 years. Is there more to Noah and Luke?
That is the $64K question. The Nuke fandom wants to see Noah and Luke happy, but you know what that means in soapland. ZERO screentime.
From what I've read, the next storyline has them as supporting players in what the writers call a "fun" storyline dealing with murder. How murder can be "fun" is clearly subjective, but there you have it. Then in mid-March, Luke's crazy bio-dad returns, so who knows what Luke and Noah will do then.
Personally, I'd love to see a love triangle. If the goal is equal treatment of gays on soaps, then Luke and Noah should also be subjected to all the soap cliches, trials and tribulations that their straight counterparts go through. Otherwise, Luke and Noah are just going to be backburnered characters who are "separate but equal" to their heterosexual comrades in Jokedale.

I'd love that, too. And not the fictional triangle with Maddie. An actual triangle with another man (who is not step-grandfather
)
Love Luke and Noah, and I think they have done a good job with the romance. I would love to see them happy, but happy DOES = no screen time...

Brian Wheatley (Laurence Lau) is returning in March as well, but I doubt he will come between Nuke. That New Year's Eve kiss that Luke planted on his Step Grand Daddy won't be repeated (though I enjoyed that one a lot!).
I actually liked Brian Wheatley (longtime Larry Lau fan here) because his scenes gave Van Hansis (Luke) a great opportunity to shine and act opposite great vets like Larry and Liz Hubbard (Lucinda) in a situation that Luke and Lucinda had never found themselves in before. I know I'm in the minority, but I really enjoyed Larry's stay in Oakdale. His portrayal of Brian was a revelation.
I hope Larry/Brian comes back with some good story. I'm betting it'll be related to Luke's foundation, which Damian will probably mess with for some reason or another...
