"The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle"
I have not seen that for about 30 years or so. I saw it as a fifth grader on KDKA Sunday Night Movie. They usually started at 11:30 p.m., but, the night they showed that one, it didn't start until 12:30 a.m. because of a political broadcast. I didn't get to bed until about 3:00!
I fell asleep during Math class the next day. LWAWW (Laughs with a wry wistfulness)
I heard an interview with Ginger Rodgers who said that the real Irene Castle was a creative consultant for the film and CONSULTED on everything regarding Ginger. Her hair wasn't right. Her dresses weren't right. Fortunately, for Ginger, Irene was an activist for animals rights and there was case of vivisection in the news and Irene left to fight against that.
Though my all-time favorite Fred and Ginger number is "Let's Face the Music and Dance" from "Follow the Fleet"

^^^
Excellent number, but my favorite will always be "Never Gonna Dance" from Swing Time. Seriously gets me every time.
I remember watching those movies with my parents when I was growing up and they'd get all excited by cool dance moves or something and say, "Wow, did you see that? Let's rewind it and see that again!" My love for the Fred and Ginger movies probably comes from seeing my parent's youthful fascination and excitment over the dancing.

Ugh! Sorry...I can't form proper sentences after 1am.
