I guess God FINALLY convinced Charles Knipp that the character AND the blackface were inherently racist. You know, because Charles said he was waiting for God to tell him what to do with the character.
And yet, Southern Decadence has gone out with Shirley and the world survived.
But WHO will give white people permission to laugh at black stereotypes without Shirley around?
Hey RuPaul LOVED Shirley Q Liquor and so did I. Happy Retirement Shirley, and tell yo mama I axed, "how you durrin?'"

My friend Pam didn't like him and neither did I!
I'm surprised. I feel like Shirley could have made a killing at tea bagged conventions
"Sit down and smoke a cigarette wit me."
Call it what you want. Shirley was funny.
And Southern Decadance. Does that still go on? Good God.

I have friends there even as I type.
Even though New Orleans is less than two hours from me, I haven't thought about Southern Decadance in years.

Well it's time you think again, Missy!
Well, there goes my joke about being forced to see her in a production of 'Cat On A Hot Tin Roof' in East Buttmunch, CA...

Why is this thread about Southern Decadence?
Several women of color I know have pointed
out it's not just the racism here; it's the misogyny. One
could argue that Shirley Q is just an inversion of Tyler Perry's inexplicable Madea character.

And I guess my av of the poster for my new show is also offensive.
I just notice it's been deleted.
