This really excites me. Growing up one of my favorite things in the entire world was seeing each year what films Disney would put back into the theaters. I hope this is a trend they're bringing back and continue for years to come.

UMMMM....NOOOO!!
A re-release, fine.
A re-release in 2D...HELL NO!!
WHY 3D??? Why is this dead fad coming back??? It's just STUPID! STUPID STUPID STUPID!!
They won't be getting my dollars. I'll sit at home and watch my Platinum Edition DVD on my roommate's HD flat screen 42" TV.
Capn, I'm just happy to see these films on the big screen in any capacity.
I'm with Jordan. I mean, for some films the 3-D thing will become a gimmick. But if they do it the right way (i.e. Coraline), it'll help create mood and atmosphere instead of a fun house.

i went to the Disney panel at comic con and they showed the trailer for Beauty and the Beast in 3D AND the opening song... all i can say is that it looked freaking BEAUTIFUL... i will DEFINITELY be seeing this movie on the big screen in 3D... i will also say that it wasn't very gimmicky at all and it was organic in how it was shown.. it wasn't like, let's make this 3D beause it'll be cool... it just brought another beauty to this masterpiece of a movie... Capn, i honestly think you should see it in 3D... i don't think 3D is a fad unless it cheapens the movie-going experience and this definitely doesn't do it... and i will say that at comic con they showed lots of movies in 3D this year and the advancements in this technology have come a loooong way from even a couple years ago... it's just getting more fine tuned...

Can we say perfect date movie? I'll def. be seeing this!!
Exactly, degrassifan. Now I just need to find a guy who won't think it's cheesy to see Beauty and the Beast on Valentine's day. lol

Aww, I'm sure you'll find someone!! It's not chessy at all! If you can't find a guy, just go with your best friends! It'll be so much fun nonetheless.
I'm just excited to see the movie back on the big screen. I've never seen a Disney movie in theaters before, except for Enchanted. The Princess & the Frog will be my first experience seeing a Disney film on the big screen, and hopefully B&tB will be the second.
Oh than you're in for a treat! I think I've seen every one of their animated movies on the big screen. Every 7 years they would re release them and it was an "event". I guess with DVD and now blu-ray there's really no need for it, but...I gotta tell you seeing SLEEPING BEAUTY, CINDERELLA or PETER PAN in a movie theater is thrilling.
Actually, it seems like the easiest money maker in the world for Disney to keep releasing these movies theatrically, even without retouching them. The audience is still there - people WILL go see them, and bring their kids along to experience them. I remember seeing Little Mermaid, Beauty, Aladdin etc. on the big screen as a kid/teen and being stunned by them. Animated movies now don't all have that magic the Disney films do, hopefully this will be the start of a trend.
I mean geez, what do kids have now, G-Force???

Squee!! My favorite Disney film.
I've seen a lot of the 3D movies lately (except Coraline) and they've all been a lot of fun (except UP, which shouldn't have been in 3D).
I cannot wait for this!
In LA a year or so ago, Disney screened the newly restored print of SLEEPING BEAUTY (in a limited run) to coincide with its release on BluRay.
I was very annoyed there was no NYC screening, as this is the one classic Disney animated film I've never seen on a BIG screen.
Tulita, I remember that and I was furious they chose not to screen it in NYC. I think it's Disney's most gorgeous film and nothing beats seeing it in a theater. Luckily their A+ work on the bluray made up for it (a little bit)
Toy Story and Toy Story 2 are both receiving 3D re-releases before TS3 comes out. Personally, I think they are PERFECT for 3D.
I agree - in fact, I remember when Toy Story came out thinking how cool it would be in 3D. Especially with films like these that we're all so familiar with, I think it's a great way to enhance the experience of the films even more. I'm looking forward to these!

A re-release in 2D...HELL NO!!
Why don't I understand what you mean?
Titanic will be re released as well. Toy Story 1 & 2 on the same bill as well
3 D died a quick death as the novelty wore off & people tired of wearing those cardboard glasses. They put every stupid movie they could into 3 D to bring people into the theaters
Over 50 years later, the technology is different & screens are bigger & the movies are better. They want to get fannys into the theater & it makes sense.
I think that it's part of Disney's mantra that the story is everything. As long as the 3D is there to serve the story rather than as just a gimmick, I'm all for it.
As long as it doesn't give me a headache, I'll be fine.
I can't wait to see it, this is my favorite film. Does anyone know if it will get re-released on DVD ?
alxscrz2, I think they'll probably use this to promoteit being their first 2010 Blu-ray release.
