I just don't have the interest, time, energy or money this year so I'm boycotting Christmas. Anyone with me?

Not boycotting it. I love Christmas! I only hope my family will come visit, as I probably won't be able to get home, this year.

Albin.....there have been times when I didn't feel like it....but then something happens.......I hear a carol, I see snow........I can never quite pin it down, but even during the worst years....Christmas has a way of reaching out and smacking me in the face, and then that's it.........Once it happened on Dec 23rd.......I prefer when it happens earlier.....

I recently left a corporate financial job and have started working in an art gallery. The new job and peace of mind that comes with it are fantastic, but I'm not making the kind of money I was. My family tends to go overboard at Christmas (which is always appreciated), but this year I'm going to have to really scale back (spending-wise) and I'm hoping that they might do the same in return.

I'm not religious by any means, so the holiday for me is just about spending time with my loved ones which, unless they all manage to piss me off royally between now and Decemeber 25, is my main focus this year.

Just don't spend a lot.
I, myself, love the spirit that it brings; happiness and finally being nice to everyone *if only it would last all year*

And a special treat for me, I am going with my mom and my choir to NY on the 26th whoo!

How about boycotting Christmas crap in the mall, etc at the beginning of October?!? Actually, it may even have been the tail-end of September when I first spotted all the holiday stuff making an early appearance. I'm sorry, but that's just ridiculous! I don't want to see Christmas trees or hear Christmas music or see shelves at department stores stocked with those hideous Christmas sweaters until at least after Thanksgiving, thank you very much.

But when did New Hampshire become--Such a backward wasteland of seatbelt hating crazies?...I mean, only 40 people actually live there. The others are just visitors who come for the tax-free liquor and three inches of novelty coastline. John Hodgeman on The Daily Show (1-30-07)

I'm with you, Albin. Put me into hibernation from US Thanksgiving until after Valentine's Day, please.

I just don't get the commercial hype about Christmas. Isn't about celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ? Where is it mentioned in the bible that you have to spend exorbitant amounts of money , go into to deep financial ruin, stress out, overeat, and put a tree in your living room? I know I am Jewish, but it saddens me to see this beautiful and poignant holiday ruined by commercialism.

I don't have the heart to boycott Christmas. It's my favorite time of year. For me, it's not about the presents. It's about family, and time you spend with them.

Thanksgiving, to me, is just turkey. Updated On: 10/17/05 at 06:48 PM

Scrooge Here!
I Boycott Thanksgiving, Christmas and Valentine's Day.
I really am a nice guy, I do have a heart but I am not a holiday person. I don't even want to celebrate my birthday next week. The only holidays I like is: Halloween and New Years.

Since I was 13, my family has stopped giving Christmas gifts. instead, we take the money we would usually spend on gifts and give it to various charities in the names of our friends and family.

I think anyone who tries this one year would never stop doing it. It is the real Christmas spirit. I think it celebrates family, community, and the birth of Christ in the best way -- a non-commercialized representation of love.

Now why would I want to boycott Christmas?

It's the most wonderful time of he year!
It's an excuse to get presents and see a show!
It's a time I get to see family I don't usually get to see until that time of year.
Yep, even when I'm in my worst mood (Ready to KILL someone) Christmas is one thing to lift up my heart and forget everything negative.
Nothing wrong.
Maybe it's time to get out that Rollarskating Teddy Bear Grandma gave me, or to go to Border's and buy that Cocktail recipe book I was planning to get my Aunt and Uncle.
What a wonderful time of year. I give, I get!
