My Uncle who was more like my Dad...he had skin cancer which led to bone cancer. He left this world to early.

My way cool wonderful Uncle Phil was diagnosed with skin cancer, survived. Passed away at the age of 98, surviving his spouse, his only son, his siblings, and all their spouses. The church was still filled!

My sister had a large part of the skin on her face removed last fall and thankfully they got all of the cancer. The resulting plastic surgery was and continues to be very difficult for her, but thank god she is here. I will continue to support and donate to ALL cancer research.

My godmother who was diagnosed while breast-feeding, given six months, and held on for eight years so her daughter would know her.
My boyfriend's mother who is a survivor who fought, lost one breast, then six years later fought again and lost the other. She is in remission.
My grandfather and great-grandfather (pancreatic.)

I had a scare at 18--very young, but went all the way to biopsy to rule it out.
Yes, there are innumerable diseases which need our money, energy, and good will, but it is beyond me how ANYONE could take offense at a thread--which they chose to enter--which kindly asks for an altruistic click.

It is clear to me that none of us have been spared the heartbreak of watching someone fight...
I'd like to think that I have become a better person because of my own struggle, and because of the love that I have for those who are continuing to struggle.
