BROKE MY ANKLE- IN HOSPITAL.

So, if you have not heard and you are trying to get in touch with me I broke my ankle last Tuesday and I am still recovering.

It was a bad break and I am in a lot of pain.

I have never felt pain and never realized how hard it is to have pain.

Can I ask the dumb question? Even if it's a really bad break (and I know about those -- my friend shattered her ankle in 6 places in a car accident last May and has pins, screws and a metal plate in her ankle), why are they sending you to a nursing home to recover?

I had the pins first and two other surgeries. I have been here for 12 days.
I am going to a nursing home for rehab.

CJR -- Many (in fact most) nursing homes double as temporary rehabilitation centers for patients who are "too well" to be in a hospital, but "not well enough" to be back at home.

We just put my Grandmother in a nursing home, and I was surprised at how large the rehab unit was. It was half the nursing home. The patient Rep. told it was half their income as well. GWS hopefully your stay in the nursing home will be short lived.

Ahhhh thank you for clearing that up, besty. See, here in CT (in Fairfield County, at least) rehab facilities and nursing homes are separate entities.

Sorry to here about your ankle Corine. I hope you recover well and soon. I hate to hear of people being in pain...I hav RSD and I have been in 100% non stop agony everyday of my life for the last 8 years and it really sucks!! So take your meds and get well soon!!! I will say a prayer for ya.
