I was going to get on AIM but I'm too tired to even maintain a conversation where we're only posting once every 3-5 minutes. Don't take it personally. I can't believe I'll be asleep before 11.!
Good morning, bizatches!!
Allie--I know it has a lot of the same notes, but it is the groove and the style of the song that I liked for you since it is COMPLETELY different than the ones you did in the past. Um . . . I didn't listen to the clip all the way, so I did not know that it was shorter. Let me try to find another one, ok?
I'm looking up Karma too but not finding anything. I'll see what other good Alicia songs have decent karaoke tracks on them.
BTW, I'm so looking forward to this week's theme! It's my second-favorite...my favorite is coming up in Round 8 and, to be honest, was a motivation for me to do this contest to begin with. And even though it's not officially in the rules, I'll probably wind up giving you a list of bands/artists and saying, "Pick from this repetoire."
Speaking of which - who still hasn't chosen a song? If you're a guy, I would REALLY love to see some Michael Jackson or Usher's "You Make Me Wanna".
If you're a girl, who's brave enough to do Aretha? Or Billie? Or Beyonce?

I mean the accompaniment is basically the same the whole way through, spider. I have NO idea where to come in! Tiff, I have good karaoke tracks for Fallin', A Woman's Worth, and If I Ain't Got You.
You used Limewire, eh? Those are the only ones that came up for me too. If we can't figure out Karma shortly, I would be happy with A Woman's Worth or If I Ain't Got You (esp. the second one, because I think it's got a wonderful jazzy, soulful R&B vibe going on).
BTW, Spidey, I know you're doing Sir Duke by Stevie Wonder - I just listened to it. I think your voice is perfect to cover Stevie Wonder, I'm just wondering if you wanted to consider a different song? Totally up to you, of course, but I'm just not a fan of Sir Duke, and love Superstition!
I second doing "Superstition" it is just more fun for me when I know the song.
I do think your voice is great for Stevie though Spider.
If anyone does Usher, they are automatically going to get a full point below the lowest rated performance from me.
Ugh. Spit. Moan. Over. Tired. Blah.
As for Spider, I'd like to toss out another Stevie Wonder suggestion. I'd love to hear you do "Higher Ground".
Fiiiiine, no Usher. I hate almost everything he's made, but "You Make Me Wanna" brings me back fond middle-school memories.
I just PMed Spidey the karaoke to Superstition. Higher Ground would be good too - I don't know if the karaoke exists for it though.
And Ebonic_Singer's doing Stand By Me. I'll update the song list in a mo'.

Ew, Usher.
So you think If I Ain't Got You would be a better choice than Fallin'?
Can we cuss in our tracks?
I SOOOO wish I could do Gett Off or Sexy MF! lol
Yes. Even though Fallin' is one of my favorite Alicia songs and you'll sound better than Aigoo (hee), I think If I Ain't Got You is more distinctively R&B/jazz/soul-sounding, and best fits the essence of the theme.
Sure, cuss on the tracks!

Okay, put me down for that one, then!
I still love Karma, spider!

Truly uncalled for, she's 15.
BluCat, Aigoo and I get along really well on and off this site. We make fun of each other mercilessly, and that's actually our inside joke (her rendition of Fallin').
Panties. Untwist. Now.
Hey now! I take offense to that!
Who said I was even wearing panties!

I've always wondered what that smiley was doing, tiff. Kinda looks like it's kissing something? Or sticking out it's tongue?'
Care to enlighten me?
It's just bug-eyed with it's mouth wide open. So it changes in meaning depending on the context of the conversation.

Oh, Tiff.
*shakes hedad*
Where do people get all these fun smilies? :)
That's about the extent of my smiley knowledge...
I like the smiley where the eyes sort of spin.
aka the "Colin has Tiff for breakfast, lunch and f***ing dinner" smiley.

... the rolling eyes one, Tiff?
No, it's a different one. DayDreamer did it. It's a shocked expression with eyes that spin in shock.
jrb_actor, don't even get me started. Did you run out of dental floss lately? I know where you can look!
Okay, nobody post. I want to have the top spot on the next page to post the update song list.
