Stunn/Gunn, you are usually a bright and perceptive writer and I normally look forward to reading your messages. However you've confused me with the statement:
"I know Addy has along with myself"
Are you implying that you and Addy run the marathons together? If so, that seems to indicate a cozy relationship between the two of you.

He would enlist several of my brothers and me to stand at various points throughout the route and hand him his drink. He favored a mix of tea, Tang and caffeine. He is one of the world's foremost authorities on body fluids and heat stress and he was always playing around with the mixture. Back in the late 50's and early 60's he and colleagues were working on sweat replacement drinks for the army which eventually became what we know of as Gatorade. He continues to run on a treadmill in his basement and has benefited from his long distance running in his old age with a strong heart and low blood pressure. I go to the NY marathon every year (a treat as it is right around my birthday) and I cheer and cry. I just love those west Africans.
