New ABC show Blood And Oil.

It has to do with the cutthroat oil industry in North Dakota.Problem is the price of oil is going south daily and layoffs are continuing amongst oil workers and the industry in general. 5 years ago the series made sense. Now the story line is outdated and is no longer viable

We shall see how it goes .

It takes place in an alternate universe where a scion of Texas wealth is still president and oil is outrageously high, not in today's utopia where a black president has the lowest gas prices in years.

The show does not take place in Texas. It takes place in North Dakota. ABC is going for a Deadwood meets Dynasty/Dallas meets Revenge vibe. It's a prime time soap and the oil industry will be the backdrop, but not what they're counting on to bring in viewers.

Marie: Don't be in such a hurry about that pretty little chippy in Frisco. Tony: Eh, she's a no chip!

I assumed it was Texas. I have made the necessary correction.Sorry about that. It is something on Sunday night which makes it something to watch. DVR'ING it tonight so we can watch the Ray Donovan season finale.

When the price of oil goes down the industry is less cutthroat?! I don't think there is any time when an industry thinks it is time to just kick back and enjoy itself... if prices are down, aren't they undercutting and undermining one another to be the dominant supplier?

That said, it is also a fictional TV show. So, if Empire Records is about to lose a major artist to another label because they don't trust the company to handle them properly while Lucious is in jail, I don't think that affects our ability to believe they are still a record label in a dramatic situation, heh.
