You Are The America We Love!!! Yeah, this will give the Bill O'Reilly something to hate the French about all over again. Lets pray he does't start another boycott that cost the French BILLIONS according the Paris Busniess Review.
PARIS - Barbra Streisand performed her first-ever concert in France this week — and was rewarded with a medal of the Legion of Honor.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy awarded the medal to Streisand in a ceremony Thursday, the first time he has bestowed the honor since taking over from Jacques Chirac last month.
"You are the America that we love," said Sarkozy, who is seen as more U.S.-friendly than Chirac. "Women like you ... do a lot to bring our two peoples together."

If you've seen the pics of Barbra receiving the French medal, she looks so beautiful! Not bad for a 65 year old broad! Ha, ha... She looks so happy with her hubby James Brolin by her side. How lucky she is to have a man who let's his wife shine in the spotlight. So many men may consider that "unmanly." But, when you're a secure person, it wouldn't even enter your mind.
Thank goodness Barbra never had plastic surgery, with the big, puffy lips, botox, etc. She looks likes she's supposed to look.
Her European tour is breaking box office records, receiving rave reviews and opening herself up to a new generation of her fans. Yes, 2 of her concerts were cancelled....as was 1 of her US concerts last year. Doesn't mean that she's a failure.
Thank goodness there are celebrities like Barbra Streisand and others who can use their celebrity to their advantage and educate the public about AIDS, tolerance, global warming and other important issues. A portion of her European tour, and her North American tour is going to charity. Sure, she'll still be making tens of millions of dollars. We are all motivated by money. She'd be a fool to turn it down.
I just don't understand the mindset of some people of this board who must constantly post negative comments and stir the pot for their own agenda....and, put their own "spin" on it???

I think the term you are looking for is 'opinion' not 'spin'.
Some people love her, as you obviously do, and others don't.
It's just the way of the world.

theatrediva, you're right...some love her, some hate her. The one's who hate her, always have to have a "dig" - the last word. Again, it's an agenda.....could it be jealousy? Maybe....????
There are many people who don't like a.....gasp........woman who is successful.

I think I remember you posted that her people were rude...they needed a fan or something....I think you said. In all fairness, if her people were rude to you, how could she control that?
I've worked with Barbra quite a few times and it was a fantastic experience all the way around!

I didn't have a great view of the concert, and we had all sorts of rules about 'moving from our designated area'. Basically, we were told if we didn't follow every rule down to the letter, we'd be out. But her backyard was HUGE!
It was MANY yers ago. I went with a friend who was in the show I was working on at the time. Turns out she was Miss Teen Age America at the time.

Yes, her former Malibu Estate is HUGE!!! I've gone on the tours quite a few times. I do believe that the tours have stopped.
Sounds like you had a great night, though. Lucky you! Gosh, that was 21 years ago....where does the time fly? I did have a friend who was a cater/waiter that night. He was able to watch the concert from up on the hills, above "the meadow" where the concert was. Most of the waiters left before the concert started. But, he was told that he could stay as Barbra had a private party in one of her homes immediately after the concert. I think it was The Deco House....not sure. I can check with Michael and get back to you.

Still, she gave us "Funny Girl", "Hello, Dolly!" and "On A Clear Day" (love the "Go To Sleep" duet with herself) and "Funny Lady". She is also a comic genius ("What's Up, Doc?", "For Pete's Sake", "The Owl and The Pussycat", "All Night Long", "Up The Sandbox" and "Meet The Fockers".
