BNL is my all time favorite band. Always has been, always will be. But still, I miss Steven Page in the group dearly. They just aren't BNL without him.
I used to really like BNL -- after Maroon and Stunt I felt like they went into a downward spiral - the next couple of albums all sounded exactly the same to me.
Break Your Heart, What A Good Boy, and Life In a Nutshell will always be some of my favorite songs though.
The only album of their's that I think was a bummer (besides the latest without Page) was Everything to Everyone. They were going for a new techno sound and all the songs sounded the same. I'm glad they abandoned that.
Stunt and Gordon are my two favorite albums. Some Fantastic is probably my favorite song.
I don't buy all of their music. Only own one of their CD's but did see them in concert in the late 90's. They were fantastic live.
I'm a longtime fan of BNL. It is good to see some other fans on here!! I really liked the "Everything to Everyone" album. Although it was a different sound, I think there were some very enjoyable songs on that album. However, I completely agree that the band just hasn't been the same without Steve. My favorite songs "Enid" and "Brian Wilson" were songs that he was primarily featured. I also really like "Pinch Me" and "Falling For the First Time."
BNL was the first band that I saw who sold live recordings of all of their concerts (during the "Everything to Everyone" tour). The recording from the concert I attended is probably my favorite BNL album. They sang all of the hit songs plus the classic BNL stuff. I haven't seen them in concert in quite awhile, but I would definitely like to see them again. Their concerts are always so much fun. The silly onstage banter, the adlib songs, and (of course) throwing the Kraft macaroni. Good times.

They're always so much fun live. I love their Live in Michigan dvd. I haven't seen them without Page, but I'm sure they still have the charm. When I was a kid, and still, I always described Steven as "the good one". lol I bought his solo album, "The Vanity Project", but something about it didn't appeal to me as much. I can't wait to hear his new one, though.

BNL was my fave rave when I was a teenager. One of those bands that you keep calling your favorite band long after it's not really true anymore. I haven't seen them do a proper concert since Steve left, but I did see them do an acoustic set at a radio station shindig and they were still as delightful as ever.
The band are such great musicians together, and that's what Steve's CDs really lack. He has fantastic songwriting skills. Melody, lyrics. A great voice, of course. But he doesn't have the musical chops, and didn't record either of his solo albums with people who do. It's disappointing, but not unexpected after a split like that.
Totally agree that Everything To Everyone sucked. I thought that maybe they had just run out of fresh ideas as a band after that album.
But the latest album (without Page) had some really great songs. Renewed my love for them. I still think they have a really great album in them.
