Santa Fe. from Rent. Kind of
Now I could probably be killed for saying that I'm not overly familiar with rent. . .but I'm not. . .Also, from what I know, most of Rent's lower parts are more Baritone-y than actual bass like. . .I could sing them (range is B-flat1 to g1 [Bflat below the bass staff to the g above middle c]), but it doesn't show off what I'm trying to showoff (looking for an audition piece).
it gets pretty low. i don't know exactly, but it's definately down there. we sang it last year for show choir (the guys did at least) and yeah.
what is it an audition for?
Little Shop of Horrors. . .I'd either want to be Audrey II (Preference 1) or Dr. Orin (#2) and think I could pull either off. . .
Santa Fe is a good idea for Audrey, but very little musical theatre is actually written for a bass. You're more likely to find baritone pieces that dip into bass range.
Sing an Elvis song and add character. It gets the point across, and is fun. Just don't sing it like Elvis!

"So In Love (Reprise)" from Kiss Me, Kate is kinda low and goes up to an F above middle c...
Yeah, I love the songs from Kiss Me Kate, but they seem like a hugely different style than that of the show I'd like to do. . .however, I may use one of them as a piece to give them an idea of my voice. . .thanks!
