Beauty and the Beast audition

I have an audition in July for Beauty and the Beast at the Beck Center for the Arts. I know at least one or two people on this website were in their original cast. The audition requierments include one song and one monologue. I have monologue picked and down pat...

Now the problem. I am going for the role of LaFue (spelling?) and I would die for the part. I don't want to sing from the show, but I want to sing something that would show the director that I am LaFue. I am obviously a character actor, baritone/tenor ... I was thinking of taking the song Santa Fe from Newsies because it's a Disney song... but LaFue doesn't sing any ballads ... And I kick ass at Santa Fe if I may say so... Any ideas anyone?

I wouldn't do Santa Fe, at least not for that part. What's that uptempo song from Singin' in the Rain that Cosmo sings? That might be a good one. Other than that, I'm blanking right now. There's a book that's like "Songs for actors" or something that has a bunch of good character songs that might be worth checking out. Break a leg!
