How about if they met up with you outside of their show and they gave you their cell phone number, invited you to their apartment to hang out, and you went out to dinner and walked their dogs together? Does that count as a friendship with an actor? =] I'm a jerk, haha.

It is ridiculous to set a detective story in New York City. New York City is itself a detective story... AGATHA CHRISTIE, Life magazine, May 14, 1956

what a strange discussion!

I think its funny that people flip out over the littlest interaction with a broadway performer, or any celebrity for that matter.

They are normal people who have a talent they showcase. I have many friends who are in broadway shows right now ( I got to BOCO ) and we kind of laugh when people get SO excited. Broadway performers have friends and famiiles of their own, people forget that. Not laugh in a mean way , in a " i am just like you , why do you get so excited to see me" type way.

I have a few broadway auditions lined up this spring. I wonder if I make a show if people will do the same to me. That would be friggen hilarious.

I've gotten hugs from many people whom I had just met -I don't consider them a friend.

OMG, I do! The hug is the sign of TRUE FRIENDSHIP AND LOVE, you guys.

And now, on a serious note, you and your friend are both wrong. It does happen. Often to an ugly outcome due to rash irresponsibility on someone's part, but those friendships can also be wonderfully fulfilling. And a lot of times, it's not just simply friend or not -- it's something in between.

A work of art is an invitation to love.
