Posted: 12/20/05 at 1:49amBlue, Most of my predicted reaction to the film is in reaction to its size. I'm not that much for big movies. They feel (ironically) cheap to me. Like someone felt the need to distract me with lots of cash to keep me from seeing the lack of movie.

"(but without the sentimental cuteness that has plagued many of Spielberg's kid-friendly flicks)"
Also without the trite sentimentality wrapped in a violent bluster that has plagued nearly all of Spielberg's "serious" films.

Ack, please don't mention that disaster to me.
I sat there thinking, alright that was obnoxious, and then it didn't end, and then it didn't end, and then I wanted to vomit all over the screen at the crap they decided to end the movie with.

Did anyone see the trailer for KING KONG that used a Coldplay song? I think it was "Fix You," but I'm not sure.
It was an AMAZING trailer, and THAT is how it should be marketed.

I keep telling people to see King and their response is always, "Really??" (Translation: "I can't believe you think that's good!")
BlueWizard is spot-on about people thinking this is a B monster movie remake. Unfortunately, whatever campaign they come up with at this point can't be the effective because there are simply too many great films to choose from... each fitting a niche...

Kong will not win. It shouldn't even be nominated. This is coming from the boy who works in the movie theatre and saw all the movies mentioned thus far more than once. A majority of the animation during Kong was so obvious and terrible. These are the nominations:
Broke Back Mountain
Crash
Walk the Line
The Producers
Munich
As for a winner, I don't really know. BBM should win but the context is controversial. Crash was phenominal but will probably get overlooked. Munich has but a name to push it. Walk the Line gave brilliant performances but the movie itself wasnt the greatest (I loved it though), and the Producers is the Producers. If I had to pick I'd say, realitcally, against my will, Munich.

Here is one of the newer KONG tv-spots that, I think, is amazing.

Posted: 12/21/05 at 3:05amthat's much better than the trailers we showed for the past 3 months. I still don't think it is Best Picture Material. I also really think Syriana should be nominated it was brilliant. There is one other movie that I thought was great but since most would not agree with me I shall not name it.
