Its all a personal preference. Some people don't like AMDA. I've visited there, and I say the faculty and facilities are great. I can't tell you about the student body, but you're going to great really great people and not so great people wherever you go.

Circle has the better reputation. So if you're concerned about that, I would go with Circle. But you'll get just as good of an education at AMDA, if not better, depending on which enviornment you prefer.

Either way, you should take extra dance classes outside of school

Well going to AMDA you wont get a BFA...however, I know a few people who go there and love it. Only thing is...you only learn as much as you want. Like...you dont get pushed by the faculty, you have to push yourself to get the best education...which personally I'm not into, I like to work hard AND have teachers push me. But I hear they have some great faculty

"amda actually now has a BFA program"
I think she was assuming that you would be going there for two years and two years isn't a BFA.
But please correct me if i'm wrong.

But anyway, you don't want to get a degree or anything?

I went to Circle's summer program and it was pretty intense. They share staff with Juilliard. I know one of the Shakespeare teachers and Mask teachers teach at Juilliard. Also one of the dance teachers choreographed for Juilliard. The acting technuique teachers have been on Broadway. One assistant directed the original production of Inherit the Wind. When I auditioned I auditioned in front of a Tony award winner. I don't know of any other two certificate program that has better mentors than Circle. Circle also accepts fewer people than AMDA. In the end it's all about what school is best for you. Circle in the Square is very heavily Stanislavsky based. So if you don't like his ways of teaching than it might not be the best school for you.

I would say Circle definitely has the better rep. Its very, very intense from what I've heard. And its faculty is pretty amazing.

I wouldn't say one is more intense than the other. Circle is definitely heaving on acting, and they are experts. But I have seen some amazing triple threats come out of AMDA and onto Broadway. Its really all what you prefer. Maybe if you wanted more schooling you could do both! Money obviously will always be an issue.

I've heard absolutely wonderful things about the AMDA faculty though. And its true that they have a bigger studen population. I don't know if that's a bad thing, but it would be up to you.

Try visiting each one. They both have a different enviornment in which to hone your craft. They're both great schools despite what anyone says. And as long as you feel you can do your best there, then that's what counts.
