Big Sports Personality Coming Out in Boston Herald Tonight

I know he's married with a few kids but my first thought was "The Hick from French Lick" aka Larry Bird.

I'm probably wrong though. But I do think it is someone of his caliber and someone who is retired.

When they mean sports personality it could be an athlete/coach/announcer/executive. Did he specify if the said person was still active in their sport?

Larry Bird had a love child he kept pretty hush hush for decades and he is still working in the front office of the Indiana Pacers.

UPDATE: It's their columnist Steve Buckley. He also does radio and I am pretty sure he does it on WEEI, not really a station with callers and personalities that I think will be that accepting of this news.

I am not shocked to hear that it is a sports writer. In the sports world it is known that if you're gay you stay in the closet. To come out if you're a current player is a death wish. And, if you're getting paid a multi million dollar paycheck every year I doubt that you would want to put that in jeopardy.

I mean, it's sad but that is the way things are when it comes to homosexuality and sports. But, since we were playing the guessing game, I doubt it would have been Sanchez. Only because both NYC and Boston are big sports markets. So, it would have made no sense for him to have come out to not only another major US sports market but one that has been considered to be NYC's rival in various sports for a number of years.
