I am not shocked to hear that it is a sports writer. In the sports world it is known that if you're gay you stay in the closet. To come out if you're a current player is a death wish. And, if you're getting paid a multi million dollar paycheck every year I doubt that you would want to put that in jeopardy.
I mean, it's sad but that is the way things are when it comes to homosexuality and sports. But, since we were playing the guessing game, I doubt it would have been Sanchez. Only because both NYC and Boston are big sports markets. So, it would have made no sense for him to have come out to not only another major US sports market but one that has been considered to be NYC's rival in various sports for a number of years.
