This entire photo flap in the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Nude photos? Um, really? I don't think the pics are that bad. Disney is making a big deal about, Miley has been forced to apologize,Vanity Fair and Anne Lebovitz are being criticized and now Bill O'Reilly has to put in his 2 cents.
This country is so uptight when it comes to nudity but even more uptight when there is no nudity involved. I think it's just a slow news week.

it's a manufactured controversy that will merely serve to potentially attract a slightly older and more male audience to an artist who is rapidly outgrowing her tween base. the right can be counted on - as usual - to blow it completely out of proportion and provide exactly the coverage disney wants.
It's the same thing Sabrina the Teenage Witch did to extend her popularity...papa has it right.
I totally agree. But Vanity Fair released the video of both her parents there on set and even looking at the pics in question giving Anne their approval. How can they flip flop when the video clearly shows they were present and approved? Can't have it both ways? Since when is bare shoulders considered nudity? Is it only nudity when a 15 year old girl does it? I just don't see the scandal. I don't understand what all the fuss is about. I find this picture more disturbing than the Vanity Fair.
"It's the same thing Sabrina the Teenage Witch did to extend her popularity...papa has it right."
that's what they reported on one of the news shows. It's so obvious-everyone benefits!

It's not the naked shoulders that are causing the controversy. It's the post-sex wrapped in the bedsheets look. She's 15. That's disturbing.
uh, i'm about the biggest perv here and i didn't get that from it. i think the ones who are protesting the loudest are doing so because of what they see and what that says about them.
*edit* it doesn't much matter, though. the protesters are merely useful idiots in a pr campaign that is unfolding along a predetermined script that's been used repeatedly through the years.
"it's the post-sex wrapped in the bedsheets look. She's 15. That's disturbing."
I don't see that at all when I see the picture. I doubt her parents did either when they saw them.
I usually can't stand Miley, but the pictures weren't bad.
I wonder what would happen if she pulled a Brooke Shields.
"Nothing comes between..."
I don't know much about Mily Cyrus except that she's popular with little girls. I saw some footage of her on the stage and all the young kids in the audience. So-I was a little put off seeing her portrayed as a sex kitten. Yeah, that's how I saw that one picture with the sheet.
For those of you who don't see it as sexy, how do you see that photo? I'm curious.
I can't get past her looking like a drugged up Sleeping Beauty with bad hair to start thinking she's sexy.
To quote Vanity Fair, "Um, was Cyrus—or Disney—at all anxious about this shot? 'No, I mean I had a big blanket on. And I thought, This looks pretty, and really natural. I think it’s really artsy.'"
It sounds like she didn't have any reservations. If anyone else though so, I guess they didn't speak up.
I think the one with her dad is a little more disturbing than the sheet one.
For what it's worth - I DO believe she, and the photographer, were trying to make her look sexy. To say otherwise is just naive. (or stupid). I also believe that 15 is way too young to be posing as a sex symbol. Despite that, I also believe that it is being way overblown and that most of her tween fans wouldn't have given the photos a second glance if the adults hadn't made such a big deal out of them.
Also, for what it's worth, I heard last night that the photos weren't taken until after her parents had left the set. Supposedly a grandmother (or it may have been an aunt) was left there with her and gave her permission. If that's true, I put a lot of blame on the photographer for the sneaky act of waiting till they left. It's truly a case of taking advantage of the girl.
You guys all realize you are being complete tools in a faux-controversy, right? Papa nailed it. Wake up, kids.
I'm no tool. Of course they're trying to make a sex symbol out of her to attract a larger and older audience-more fans, more money. Simple and obvious.
Anne Lebovitz is way too professional to play such sneaky tricks as she is accused. She's been doing this too long and Vanity Fair would never allow what they are being accused of to take place. Her family saw the photo in question. I've seen the video of her father smiling and saying he likes the picture.
I think we have a girl with a squeaky clean image and we are now looking for ANYTHING to disturb that. We're grasping at straws! I agree with Papa 100%! I don't see a Lolita or anything in the picture. Maybe if I was a fan or attracted to her or into 15 year old girls, but I am not. I see the picture for what it is. I guess it will be a rule now that if your 18 or under long pants, no ankles showing, no shoulders or arms or anything like that is allowed in pictures.
We have become so PC and just plain nuts in this country when it comes to sex and the human body. I can watch the news and see someone's dead body dangling over a bridge in Iraq. I can see Saddam Hussein executed on the internet. I can participate in a drive by shooting on any video game, but exposed shoulders by a 15 year old is just too much! GOOD GOD!
She looks like she belongs in one of those meth ads.
She needs to lose a little more weight for those, Diva.
She looks pretty skanky as it stands.
Much ado about nothing in the grand scheme of things.
Much like the hoo ha about her fathers mullet, back in the day.
I'm far from pc, and I'm no prude when it comes to sex.
I also am able to tell the difference between a photograph which is contrived to look sexy and one where a teenager is simply showing bare shoulders.
It's all a clever marketing scheme.
You can be certain that Bill O'Reilly has been holding up that pic of Miley with one hand since it came out.
LOL!
I agree with papa 100%. Also I just chaperoned a freshmen formal and some of the dresses the girls were wearing were far worse then this picture...one girl(who is 15) had a plunging neck line that plunged to her navel and was backless and her mom was the one who bought her the dress
