Again, you're blurring the definition of human.
So answer my question: you're on record as saying that you're fully human at the moment of conception but, if your wife's body decides to reject said fully human creation, that it's not murder?

OK, I get the point.
No, that would not be murder, just as having a terminal illness is not suicide. Believe it or not, nature is more powerful than we are.
And in regards to Equal Protection, I don't see where there's a problem. Gay people have the same exact rights as straight people. Everyone has the right to marry one human, of the opposite sex, over the age of 17, who is not a relative. No one is restricting those rights.
Interesting. Yes, we have the right to marry...one man because our Congress, in fits of fright and believing that only fundamental Christianity should exist and prevail in this country, made it so.
Certainly flies in the face of equal protection.
Hey trpguyy--do you live in Chicago?

No, I live in NY. Is there something I'm missing?

trp - what is the source of your awareness that life begins at conception?
Only if you count a complete inability to accept opposing views on lifestyle.

"Only if you count a complete inability to accept opposing views on lifestyle."
Pot meet kettle.
And here I thought life begins at 40.

When did I oppose anyone's lifestyle? Please show me, because I don't recall ever doing this.
Who are you to tell me that my relationship--and DGrant's--is less valid than yours--and GothamPC's?

Again, when did I say that? I said everyone has the same legal rights.
Regarding life at conception: Google "proof life begins at conception" There are 695,000 pages. Here's a link to one: http://www.nebcathcon.org/educational_info1.htm

I suppose then we should feel bad that straight people aren't allowed to marry people of the same sex.
"Everyone has the right to marry one human, of the opposite sex, over the age of 17, who is not a relative. No one is restricting those rights."
Don't even pretend to act as if this is being offered the same legal rights.
Oh, and Gotham, I'm proud of being called a kettle by you.
I'll respect your highly fundamentalist views the day you recognize my right to marry a man.
How's that?

Sorry, but I don't remember seeing "everyone can marry whoever they're in love with" in the Constitution. The point is, everyone does have the same legal rights. I can't marry my sister, my dog, my microwave, and 10-year-old, two women, or one man, and neither can anyone else.
And notice how I respond to all the questions, too. What an apparently challenging concept.

"The point is, everyone does have the same legal rights. I can't marry my sister, my dog, my microwave, and 10-year-old, two women, or one man, and neither can anyone else."
How incredibly ignorant.
Since you also seem to be taking your moral code from a very old book (and not even from the man the book is supposed to be about, but rather them man who wrote ABOUT him after he died), I suppose you'd like to know that, according to said book, your dad could also arrange for your daughter to be sold into a marriage in order to make money from it.
Also, you have a right to own other humans as property.
Wait, that's outlawed in our Constitution? Clearly, some activist judge made that decision.

I also don't remember talking about my "moral code" at all. Since you brought it up, I happen to be an athiest.
And actually, the US Senate made slavery unconstitutional.
How good of you to clarify.
Now, let's talk about how you apparently are in love with your toaster...
Do you KNOW how insulting you are being by dredging up that biogted canard equating my life to incest, bestaility, pederasty and bigamy.
Do you KNOW how insulting you are being?
Answer THAT question.

I know that reading must be a tough concept for you, but please remember, I'm in love with my microwave.
Also, I didn't equate your life to incest, bestiality, pederasty and bigamy. I lumped those in the same group because the only thing they have in common is that they're not protected by the US Constitution.
I do not intend to be insulting, I intend to use facts to support my argument, a concept obviously forgeign to everyone else.
But what facts are you using to support your stance that I can't marry another man? Just the simple fact that the DOMA stands as law right now?
Remember, as I said, slavery was once legal under our constitution and a black man wasn't even considering 100% human. He was also even given a legal value like livestock.
So, law or Constitutional statute or not, there's a reason that document has grown and evolved over the years.
And you are not using facts to support your argument--you are positing bigoted assertions as facts.
Your assertions are NOT facts, and your equivalences are insulting to a great many posters on this board--HIGHLY insulting.

Name something I stated as fact and proove me wrong. Do it.
And if I'm being so insulting to a great number of people on this board, then why don't you stop posting and let the thread die out? You wouldn't want additional people to be insulted, would you?

"And you are not using facts to support your argument--you are positing bigoted assertions as facts."
Because you can't handle facts. I posted one earlier in the thread and you never gave it serious response. People don't post facts because you can't handle facts.
"Everyone has the right to marry one human, of the opposite sex, over the age of 17, who is not a relative. No one is restricting those rights."
Hmm....I'm gonna go right down to the fertility clinic and marry an 17 year old frozen embryo of the opposite sex.
You can marry your microwave. You have my permission.
