It's that day! The Storm is out. Does anyone have any critiques?
I'm interested in getting this, but I'm not in a place where I can try it out without them sending it to me first (and having to return it if I don't like it).
1) How is the touch-click screen? Is it easy to use or easy to hit wrong keys?
2) Does the 3.2 megapixel camera have a fast finger response or is there a delay where you have to wait and hold for the picture to take?
Anything else?

I am seriously thinking about going to Verizon tomorrow and getting one. I opened this thread because I am so eager to see what others thought about it! Maybe I'll just bite the bullet and get it tomorrow. I can always return it in 2 weeks if I really hate it, but the reviews I've read liken it to the iPhone. PJ and others, please post ASAP...and if I break down and get one, I'll let you all know, too.

Rock You Like A Hurricane
On the multimedia side, the Storm offers 1 GB of onboard memory storage and a microSD/SDHD memory card slot to support up to 16 GB of additional storage. The built-in media player can play movies in full-screen mode, display pictures and slideshows and manage music collections; playlists can be created directly on the handset and there's an equalizer with 11 preset filters -- including "Lounge," "Jazz" and "Hip Hop" -- for customized audio ranges when using wired headphones or external speakers. The handheld also features a 3.5 mm stereo headphone jack and supports Bluetooth.
The Storm also features a 3.2 megapixel camera with variable zoom, auto focus and a flash that also provides continuous lighting while recording video
Have You Ever Seen The Rain?
Like all BlackBerry devices, the Storm also delivers BlackBerry's mobile email and messaging, supporting both personal and corporate email, SMS, MMS and instant messaging from most consumer and enterprise platforms. It also offers easy access to popular social networking sites, like Facebook.
Similar to other new BlackBerry models, the Storm also offers built-in GPS for location based services and geotagging of photos. The Storm, which measures 4.43 inches by 2.45 inches by 0.55 inches and weighs 5.5 ounces, features a removable and rechargeable 1400 mAhr battery with up to six hours of talk time on 3G networks and 15 days of standby time.

Some reviews are very positive and some are not:

I'm still waiting to hear from someone who actually owns one of these things. The reviews are written by tech freaks who may have a bias or who may be very picky.
Better in my case to hear from someone - like an ordinary person or a not so ordinary artist type - who puts this to regular use, not a reviewer who didn't even read enough of the instructions.

hmmm, a removable, and rechargable battery alone would be nice.
If it will work Overseas, I may consider it when my iphone contract is up

MY Blackberry Curve is being replaced for the second time in two months. I'm not happy with IT at all. The GPS never seems to work right (It has me blocks away from where I am) and it never wants to connect to the Internet. My phone bill this month was $289.00. Not worth it at all.
After I got off the phone witht them, I saw the ad for the Storm. I'm going to see if they can send me that instead.

Posted: 11/22/08 at 12:16pmI'm very interested to see the customer reviews for the Storm. My two year agreement with Verizon expires at the end of the month, and I could really use a new phone.

You guys, those icons on the user interface look so similar I'm not sure how you're going to avoid pushing the wrong one when you want a different function. I realize a lot of you are forced to have the Blackberry for work or whatever, but I'm so used to the iPhone 3G interface with the very distinguishable different icons.
Also, there was just a software update yesterday that added walking directions to the Maps function and it's fabulous. And now there's google voice search where you tell google what it is you're looking for and it searches for you. That's fun!
Anyway, good luck with your Storms!

I don't know why they didn't make it Wi-Fi compatible.
Verizon has a good network so in many cases it won't matter, but if you are located deep in some building somewhere (most of Manhattan? ) it could be a problem. But I'm at the opposite extreme from Manhattan. There are more people in a single Manhattan building than in the entire town where I'm now living.
I do move about and the international capabilities of the Storm are attractive. I just need to know how well this machine works.

Excuse my ignorance, but don't you still need to be an AT&T customer to use an iPhone? Or you have to have your AT&T account forward to a Verizon network or something?
I mean, if there's no advantage to having a Storm over an iPhone, why bother?

Posted: 11/22/08 at 1:23pmI think the Storm is exclusive to Verizon. If you are on ATT I wouldn't bother.
#17re: BlackBerry Storm Reports
Posted: 11/22/08 at 1:24pmI'm not on AT&T. I'm wondering about the iPhone now.

Posted: 11/22/08 at 1:58pmiPhone is only AT+T. I was just commenting because people seem so excited about the Blackberry having something that kind of sort of approximates the iPhone and that's nice. I had no idea it had no Wi Fi, that's a shame.

That's the reason I don't have an iPhone now. I need to be Verizonized. I was just hoping that maybe something had changed.
Why do the things that really SHOULD change always remain the same??? AAARRRGGGHHH.

Doesn't seem to need Wi-Fi--the internet service is quicker than most computers. If no one had told me it wasn't Wi-Fi, I would have thought it was.
The click touch is disorienting at first but only for about 1/2 hour.
I'm loving the clarity of the sound the video

The only problem with texting is getting used to the clicking--I'm used to it already.
Here's a picture I just took of Miss Holly on the camera, which is 3.2 megapixels, whatever that means.
