Posted: 8/12/13 at 2:35pmIt actually is much lower in some citites that use stop-and-frisk much less aggressively than NYC. Nobody has managed to prove a link between the two.

You never know.
Charlie R is a reverse one with his cracka remark. Mr Dinkins claims he was not reelected due to racism. Apparently those who put in him in office turned racist. He was a rotten mayor and that was why he was defeated.

Which makes me wonder why their opinions are suddenly valued by the "New York Post."

Cops will now be very careful before getting involved.
I pity those in high crime areas as crime will splike. Time will tell who is right.

I'd like to think they were always very careful about who they stopped and why.
Again, one in ten S&Fs resulted in an arrest. Where is this spike going to come from?

Posted: 8/12/13 at 5:31pmIt seems those who don't live in the city are the ones who find frisking bad. Easy to do from your ivory towers. The rest of us have to live here. They have taken tons of guns off the streets this way.

Those of us who live in the city also know that Charlie Rangel is a Representative, not a Senator.
But, you know, to each their own reality.

"The New York Civil Liberties Union has used the NYPD’s own statistics to dispute the police department claim that the stop-and-frisk program effectively takes guns off the streets."
It literally isn't even buried in the article; it's the lede sentence. I know English isn't your first language, but that's some atrocious reading comprehension.

Posted: 8/12/13 at 5:48pmReg and Kad, when Giuliani had his gut feeling that porn shops increased crime but Reagan's Meese Commission on Pornography researched the issue, it showerd the brightly lit stores had an inhibit ice effect on crime in the neighborhoods, he said he didn't believe it and set about to shut all the shops by every means possible. This reminds me of that.

Stats in the article I posted come from the NYPD.
How many pistols do you think they confiscated out of the nearly 130k stop-and-frisks performed due to suspected weapon possessions last year? Ballpark estimate.
How many guns in total?
How many weapons in total?
