But you could work towards the admirable goal of making sure people who want to get married CAN get married, Mr. Roxy.

Sorry, but Brangelina is not above criticism because they might say what I want to hear or because they do humanitarian work.
I know too many people with far fewer resources who give bigger portions of both their time and money to charitable causes. And they do so with little or no fanfare.
Yes, Brangelina uses their fame to draw attention to the world's problems. But that doesn't buy them or anyone else a pass when one of them makes a questionable statement.
And no, I don't believe they are innocent victims of the evil celebrity press who won't leave them alone.
oh. i'm sorry. I didn't realize you had access to brad and angelina's checkbooks and daily planners. forgive me.
did brad hold a press conference to announce this? or was it just something he mentioned in an interview? big difference.
I never said that we shouldn't criticize. but I guess I am in amazement that anyone of you would find anything objectionable in a couple making that choice. and then take that a step forward and pretend to have any idea their motivations. and to assume it must be for ill will or selfish reasons.
also I didn't realize that charity and political stances were a competition.

Nope, I don't. But I do have knowlege from articles in which Jolie spoke about the percentage of her salary that she gives to charitable causes.
Btw, you seem unable to disgree without being diagreeable.
You say you have no problem with criticism of the the couple, yet you lead with the snarky attitude towards anyone who disagrees with you.
Oh well, God bless you.

jrb_actor: I certainly don't "find anything objectionable" in his making the stance, and I know how politically motivated they both are, so I'm pretty sure they're sincere. But I really do feel the gesture is a bit on the pointless side since they have both already been married. (She more than once before.) And I also don't think your Walmart analogy is apt. Now, if he were still married to someone and said, "My wife and I have decided to divorce, and we will not remarry each other until gays can marry," that would be in line with your Walmart example.
Anyway, you're right in that it does bring more press to the issue, which is always a good thing.
We will have to agree to disagree on their stance being moot because they have been previously married. I just can't fathom how anyone could come to that conclusion--but to each their own. What any of us thinks hardly matters. What will be will be--and hopefully that will be progress.

Well, I can certainly agree with you wholeheartedly on that!
