it's a shame. They both seem to be as down to earth as they could. I really liked them together and I hope the tabloids give them some privacy. I don't want to hear Pat O'Brien tell me about this break up!
I thought they would stay together. But I also thought that of Meg and Dennis.

When I read the Yahoo article, I was suprised to find myself with tears in my eyes. And I see that so many others on this board feel the same way. I just happened to have watched the Friends episode which Brad guested on right before reading this. Maybe that's part of my reaction. But a friend of mine met them a few years ago when they came into his gallery and he told me how sweet they were and how much a couple they seemed to be. Perhaps we should simply be happy that they could find something special with each other for seven years and still remain loving friends, but I want to believe in the happily ever after scenario, and the fact that there won't be any ever after for them really hurts.

Not that it is ANY of my business in any way, shape of form (and I'm not in any way judging her), but
Is Jennifer just someone not interested in ever having kids? She's 35, ridiculously famous, successful, multi-Emmy-winning, a multimillionaire, AND, for chrissakes, married to Brad Pitt...... Is this a case of someone who wanted to get to that Nicole Kidman-level of fame before taking the chance of having babies (and perhaps have it alter her rail-thin figure) or is somethng else going on here? Julia Roberts just went into semi-retirement to have her twins at 37 .... Jennifer's not quite at Julia's level ..... did that play a role in her deciding to STILL postpone a family?
Again, not my business, but very sad if somehow notions of "career" and "box office" so outweighed everything else to the point that it ended up destroying what appeared to be a very happy marriage.

I never thought of them as a "manufactured" couple. They weren't the "in your face" types such as J-Lo and Ben.
I saw both of them in a documentary about bears on "Animal Planet" and it showed them in a different light and made me respect them even more.

I don't follow this kind of thing and I usually don't think it's my buisness, but I'm sorry to hear this. This breakup will be tough and it will involve lots of nasty press, and no one deserves to have to deal with that in addition to a difficult divorce. Good luck to both. I did kind of think that they might be the exception to the rule and live happily ever after...

So sorry to hear this. I thought they were a couple that would make it. I started to wonder about them with Brad mentioning on every interview his desire for kids, and Jenn staying silent about it. They woulda had some purttified kids.

AM I the only person who didn't think it was going to last from the getgo? I mean they both seem like lovely people, and I wish them both the best, but it just never seemed like a perfect fit to me. They come from such different worlds. Have you been to the town where Brad grew up? I doubt any new yorkers could relate! I do think the kids thing was probably a huge issue. Jen seems more interested in her career right now, and Brad seems obsessed with having them. Which could be good news for all you eligible ladies out there. If you're willing to give over your uterus BRAD PITT could be YOURS!!! Tempting I must say ......
I was reading an article about them in People this week (who must be kicking themselves for just printing this story about them NOT breaking up ....) and they did just take a recent trip together so it seems like they honestly tried - which I respect. Kathleen Turner grew up in the same town in Missouri as Brad, and she has lived and thrived as a New Yorker (and married to a born and bred New Yorker) for many years. It has more to do with the person themselves than where they grew up, I think.

I don't mean that people from different worlds can't coexist - I'm from Missouri myself and I live in NYC, but when you're already dealing with life in the public eye, a terribly hard place to be, I just think their upbringings can make a difference. Jennifer was raised with a father who was an actor and was always into acting. I think she probably had more of an eye for what the lifestyle entails. In any case I think its sad for them, and I hope they both find what they're looking for.

i was upset when i heard this news....but i do think its weird that it was on CNN and CSPAN...doesnt the news have anything better to talk about then Ben and Jen breaking up....u know..the war, the tsunami....but, about them breaking up, i just wish they would have had a kid...that would have been one beutiful child!

I never was into Brad and Jen either. Too pretty and not as talented as the hype they receive. But, still, love is such a beautiful thing... I always hope it lasts for anybody who's lucky enough to find it.

you know what? In all honesty I'd rather this be big news than another world disaster. War, tsunamis, etc. Atleast with Brad and Jennifer we can hope for a reconciliation, or just rejoice in the fact that Brad is up for grabs! It may be a pathetic news story, but its a lot less depressing than some of the alternatives.
