As of 11:52, one suspect is dead. Number of fatalities undetermined at this time (I'm hearing anywhere from four to ten)

Oh my god. At the news conference, they stated that it's possible there are one or two more shooters on the loose. That is from the Chief of Police.

I'm teleworking from home today so I didn't have to got into town, thank goodness. There are reports of traffic delays due to both the Navy Yard station and nearby street closings. Thanks for all your concern. I hope those two shooters at large are captured soon.

Obama called the shooting a "cowardly act" that targeted military and civilians serving their country.

"They know the dangers of serving abroad," he said, "but today they faced the unimaginable violence that we wouldn't have expected here at home."

Unfortunately, we do expect it now. Until the laws change, we can only expect more of the same.

At least 12 confirmed dead, the shooter has been tentatively identified (a 34-year old Navy contractor from Texas), and there is still a search for a second "possible" suspect. This is horrifying.

“There’s something evil in our society that we as Americans have to work to try and eradicate,” Orlowski said after decrying what she called “senseless trauma.”

“I would like you to put my trauma center out of business,” Orlowski added. “I really would. I would like to not be an expert on gunshots and not to be an expert on this.”

Millie it's the sort of "joke" ignorant racist conservative scum makes because they are still angry (for some reason) that the president mourned the cold-blooded murder of Trayvon Martin (who was the same age and racial back ground as his daughter) by remarking that he could have been his son.

It's sort of sad but mystifying too.

He was arrested in 2010 for shooting his gun into a neighbor's home, but apparently it was ruled an accident.



It has also been revealed he was awarded the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal prior to his discharge in January 2011.

I wish Sue would tell us why conservatives think it so heinous that President Obama made that comment about Trayvon Martin It got hammered endlessly at the time on Conservative media and I see it parroted still by right-wingers on Facebook and what have you. I "Personalized" the shooting too, thinking of how often I wear a "hoodie" or of how often I walked to the store when I was that age. But like so many things- like reading a speech from a teleprompter, playing golf or wanting kids to be physically fir, it becomes offensive when the president does it. I wonder why that is?

1) a lot of people think he is the one who turned it into a race thing when before that people tried to stay away from it.


2) the POTUS shouldn't be involvedin Local crims for obvious reasons

3) ther were thousands of murders committed last year. Many in his home state and city and he never commented on any of them Were their deaths not as Iimportant cuz they didn't look like his son?

4) he read the polls and made a calculated political decision.

Reason it became a race thing is because a black kid was murdered and the man who killed him was not arrested immediately after the crime.You racists always seems to leave that part of the story out.
