doncha hate when this happens?!?
from the advocate:
Director/party animal Brett Ratner sat down with The Advocate recently to talk about his upcoming film Rush Hour 3, his “hairlessness” and his gay sexperiences.
On Rush Hour 3 having “gay” punch lines (in reference to a girl taking off her wig and Chris Tucker becomes angry and accuses her of being a man): No, no! That’s from my personal experience. My first blow job was from a man, but I didn’t know it was a man. That’s where that comes from. It’s based on personal experience. It happens to a lot of people.
On his gay sexperience being common knowledge: No! Well, among my friends, but I’m not homophobic or uptight about it. That happens to a lot of heterosexuals. You meet a girl in a bar, and it turns out she’s not a girl. I think a girl should tell you if she’s a girl or a man–that way it’s your preference. It’s comedy. Look, in this movie we don’t pull any punches. We make fun of black people. We make fun of Chinese people. We make fun of French people. We make fun of gay situations. We make fun of whites. It doesn’t matter. It’s the type of movie it is. It’s a fish-out-of-water comedy. You have to have those types of situations to have the comedy. That specific idea was because it’s happened to me. It’s happened to my friends. We’ll get together with a girl, and it’ll turn out to be a guy. The reaction is “Oh, ****!” if you’re not gay, which is funny, I think. Getting into the situation is funny. I laugh whenever I see one of my friends talking to a girl, and I’ll ask, “Is that a man or a woman?” It’s funny, especially if you don’t know about it. If you know about it, fine. If that’s your preference…

This so bewildered me I had to do some research. In addition to this inexplicable profusion of sexually aggressive cross dressers, turns out that Mr Ratner had this formative "Bait n switch" experience at age 13? So it was a trannie Juice bar?

Posted: 8/6/07 at 10:52amAn idiot who ruined X-Men 3. I will never forgive him for that.Has he ever made a decent movie? Always felt he was a generic filmmaker who just made so so movies. No style at all.
re: Brett Ratner's Gay Experience#5

"Has he ever made a decent movie?"
The first RUSH HOUR, while not brilliant, is the perfect "Watch it if it's on TV". Other than that, not really.

"Wow. So he really is an idiot?"
I watched the supplemental information on the "After The Sunset" DVD and that pretty much confirmed it.

Is that for real?
He did Red Dragon, which I thought is pretty good.
re: Brett Ratner's Gay Experience#10
Posted: 8/6/07 at 5:32pmRed Dragon was remake of Michael Mann's brilliant MANHUNTER. Why remake a perfectly good movie?
re: Brett Ratner's Gay Experience#11
Posted: 8/6/07 at 5:34pmIt wasn't a remake of Manhunter; it was an adaptation of Thomas Harris's Red Dragon. And, frankly, I didn't care all that much for Manhunter.

Posted: 8/6/07 at 5:36pmYou are both right. The book (Red Dragon) came first. Then Michael Mann made a film Manhunter. Then it was remade (after the success of it's sequel "Silence of the Lambs") as "Red Dragon."
re: Brett Ratner's Gay Experience#13
Posted: 8/6/07 at 5:43pmThere are scenes in Red Dragon right out of Manhunter. I mean, almost shot for shot. Regardless, I have yet to see a film by Brett Ratner that actually entertains me. In my opinion, he should be doing made for television movies on Lifetime or the USA Network.
