I didn't see that? I just happened to be flipping around on the Guide and saw that this was on. I am so pissed at Tom's parents. If my son were gay, and something happened to him I would want to think about HIS feelings instead of mine. He loved Shane and would have wanted him to be part of the service. A-holes.
I really wanted to like this, but it was not produced well at all. Shane's original 10-minute video said much more and much better than this documentary did. A valiant attempt, but it just seemed unfocused and did not have the same impact as the video below.
From a legal standpoint, I am curious...does anyone know if Shane could be subject to legal action by Tom's family for the use of their family photographs and recordings of Tom or could they go after him for slander considering this documentary basically made them look like horrible people (which they are)? Tom's family didn't want to participate in the documentary and probably didn't even want the documentary to be made. I'm sure they consider it a public embarrassment.
I thought the documentary was a nice compliment to Shane's original video. I liked that they focused a lot on Shane and Toms backstory. I do to wonder how much was signed off from tom's parents? And I wonder if they'll ever release a public statement, now that they've been shown to the whole world.
