I would LOVE to see some commercials for abortion.
This reminds of an exchange from Drawn Together:
Abortion commercial idea #42
Foxxy Love: Are you done?
Princess Clara: I'm not sure. How do you know when you're done killing something?
Foxxy Love: When your man pick you up from the clinic and take you drinking at the club.
Abortion. Quick. Easy. And you'll be done in time to get pregnant again that same night.

Abortion was likely not a legitimate choice due to geography. There is probably one clinic in all of Alaska.
Well yeah, because her mother shut down all the others.

Sarah Palin's interview has now been removed, but I saw Bristol's.
"Teen-age pregnancy is not some to be strived-for"?
No kidding. And she said it twice, so she really must have meant it.

Since they can see Russia, could they not just cross the Bering and go to Siberia!!!!!!

Yeah, I missed the second one, too. It was taken out due to a terms of use violation, whatever that was.
She is not as mature as 18 year-olds I've met in other parts of the world. Bristol seems a bit apprehensive about the implications of it all. What I've heard from teen mothers, especially those younger than Bristol, from Mexico to Russia (Where 18 years olds can be quite mature btw) is that they regret not having had the opportunity to fully grow up themselves before having their own children. And not having had a number of years to explore their own interests, activities, goals, options etc. Bristol expresses this well. And she seems a bit frightened. I think it took a bit of courage for her to come on TV and talk about it like that. And I'm sure she was nervous, so I don't criticize her sentence structure.
I don't know that it's so much the structure as it is the content that's alarming.

I don't advocate abortions as a matter of principle, but I do believe the ultimate decision must rest with the mother-to-be and her partner. That abortion decisions should be decided there, not in a police station or court of law, nor the Legislature.
But it does present the uncomfortable situation where sometimes children are making that ultimate decision. It is alarming. In some cases I'd rather see the child put up for adoption, I guess.
At about 1900 there were 100 million people in America. During the late 60's it topped 200 million. Now there are over 300 million...... yikes

Yeah- I watched the video. Just seems like she really doesn't want to be in the spotlight but someone is sort of making her. At least that's my impression. FOX people kept commenting on how mature and well- spoken she is and that she wants to reach out to other teens. I may be hard as I oft am when it comes to the Palins but I just do not think this is a good situation! Just let her live her life in Alaska out of the public eye!

I agree with that. I don't know who would pay much attention to Bristol's going public except for Republican mothers. I assume it's for the cause of abstinence and not to support and promote the use of birth control.
I can imagine the closed-door home meetings: "If you want us to support you, send you through college, give you a nice car, a nice house, maybe an airplane, you need to do this for us..."
Gotta love those hard-hitting Fox New questions.

I'd love someone to ask her if she was using birth control when she got pregnant.
Speaking of teenage pregnancy, I'm watching "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" and it is the most awfully scripted show I've ever seen.
Another instance of white upper middle class teenage pregnancy, where the only "choice" discussed is to marry the boyfriend before or after the birth.

SKB, my kids watch it and although it might suck, it does provide a nice medium for dialogue about teen pregnancy.
I honestly didn't even finish the first episode. I couldn't.
I am sickly addicted to that show. We should have a drinking game and do a shot every time someone says, "sex."

I saw a clip when Molly Ringwald was on The View. The two daughters (or the daughter and another girl, I don't know if there are two daughters) were arguing and they were acting very ... hard, I guess is the nicest way to say it.
