I saw F 9/11 last Friday night and you could almost hear the collective eyeroll when Britney came on screen.
She may be a great/marketable entertainer but I sure wish Moore hadn't gone for the obvious at that point and depicted her as the spokesperson of a generation.

Exactly...
And for a bit of trivia, one of my college classmates is in that film for a snippet. He has a show on one of the cable news networks... CNN, Fox, MSNBC can't recal which.
Isn't that just sooo interesting to all of you.

The Britney clip was hysterical, but it was his comment about her that sent it home: "Britney Spears was not alone." Her comments--in between gum cracks--was indicative of the entire country's attitude toward Bush at that time. "We should just do whatever he says..." Also, I believe her comments were collected around the time of the whole Dixie Chicks hysteria, the "Deck of Weasels" cards featuring Janeane Garafolo and Susan Sarandon along with Saddam Hussein, the outcry against Andy Rooney for his gentle criticism of the war, etc....to hear Britney say vacuous things to keep her career in check, not at all surprising. On the other hand, when I read an article about Chris Rock talking about how he was pulling the political material in his act back because he "didn't want to get Dixie Chick'ed", it's bloody shameful. A bad time for America, thank God people calmed down a bit.

Don't compare those two things, bwayguy. McCarthyism was several degrees of magnitude worse.
Politicians with no original ideas in their wrinkled skulls always like to condemn the "immoral." It just so happens that in the beginning of the war on terrorism, condemning it was the "immoral" thing du jour.
