Yes PJ....I LOVE the girls too. Jennifer is very sweet...I talked to her briefly one night after a show. I agree that she is brilliant in the role...especially during "My Eyes Adored You".
SOMMSY..YES !!!
The show is much more moving that I imagined. The writing and direction are surprisingly flawless.
Having seen John Lloyd Young in workshops and readings, I was stunned at how fully realized his performance is. To see someone go from talented-but-unemployed to Tony-winning star in less than 18 months is cause for joy. His scenes with his wife and daughter are pitch-perfect and his singing is delicious.
Daniel was the one of the four I was left wishing to see in another show. He was very appealing as shy Bob Gaudio but everytime he got to do a piece of flashier movement or singing, I would think, "Oh, there a lot more than we're seeing..."
I singled out Jennifer and the girls because it's easy to miss them with four such dynamic guys, but the whole cast delivers. I especially liked Peter Gregus and Titus Burgess.
But really what makes the show so powerful is the conception and execution of the material, the way the writers and Des McAnuff mix the timeless working-class appeal of the Four Seasons songs with the harsh events of their life. It's tough and gritty and joyous--and in-your-face about all of it.
It's f*ckin' Jersey. And boobs--you were the first one to tell me it was more than a jukebox musical. I shoulda bought a ticket that minute.
PJ, you don't know how happy it makes me feel that you walked away with the same feelings I did when I 1st saw the show...and still do even after seeing it 4 times now. It takes me on a new rollercoaster ride everytime I see it....one of those rides that you just want to go back on after you just got off. Now if you'd like to see Daniel doing something on his own...some of us will be seeing his concert at Joe's Pub on August 21st.
PJ, that's wonderful! Since "noticing" Daniel, I've been searching out info about him. I'm so mad at myself that I never saw Radiant Baby at The Public. Live and learn!

One has been VERY busy, you know! :) (There are also happy nearly-confirmed rumours floating around One's inbox and telephone message system that One will soon be appearing in the pit of a certain beloved Broadway show. Ooooh!)
Is the repeatedly capitalized "One" a not-so-veiled reference to the Chorus Line revival? Or am I reading too much into your always-arch patois?
