hey everyone,
i'm conducting a survey for my statistics class, and i need to know, how many broadway shows (if any) do you see a year? if any of you could respond, that would be great because i need to get a good amount of data on this for my statistics class. however, if you could do me one slight favor...instead of responding with phrases such as "A lot", "A few", etc., could you try and come up with a number as opposed to a phrase representing a number or group of numbers? thanks!
Sure...
Although my lists include repeat viewings of shows, I don't have one saying how many DIFFERENT ones:
1995 (2)
1996 (5)
1997 (8.)
1998 (9)
1999 (13)
2000 (15)
2001 (27)
2002 (17)
2003 (38.)
2004 (48.)*
although the 2004 number is obviously still in progress
Edit: Had to fix the 8s
hehe...your 8's turned into sunglass men!!!
I think I average 10 shows a year, if that helps. I dont keep an ongoing count.

is there somewhere I can find a list of what shows were playing each year? that might help me figure it out

Shesings, I think you can find out at ibdb.com. I'm not sure, though.
Broadway shows per year? You mean, actually on Broadway, or shows that are/have been on Broadway? Either way, I'd say...two or three per year. *sigh* I need more money.

Do you only want Broadway specifically or do you also want us to include Off-Broadway, regional productions, national tours as well? I ask because all of the above can be roughly the same from a quality perspective (all would be Equity productions). For example this year's Tony winners for Best Play and Best Musical -- I Am My Own Wife and Avenue Q -- both originally played Off-Broadway before transferring to Broadway houses. If someone saw them Off-Broadway, but didn't see them after they transferred, should those shows be omitted from the list? Productions by major regional houses can be every bit as good as anything playing on Broadway and many times the national touring company of a Broadway show is as good as, if not better than, the original Broadway production.
I usually go to one or two a month, so I'll say about 18 a year.
This is starting from when I was 6.
1998-2
1999-0
2000-1
2001-1
2002-1
2003-2
2004*-5
Including National Tours:
2003 - 4
2004 - 3 (soon to be 4 - I am going to see Producers tour)
Not including tours:
2003 - 2
2004 - 1
Originally I was referring to only broadway, but if you want to include off-broadway, regional, and tours, that's fine. :)
thanks everyone who's participated so far!

Here's what I could figure out quickly:
2000 -- 53
2001 -- 65
2002 -- 61
2003 -- 64
*2004 (so far) -- 53* (another 12-15 or so to come by the end of the year)
On average, I go to 4 a month...so...48.
2002 - 28
2003 - 24
2004 - 22 so far

I'm not sure. But including Broadway and Off- Broadway the number is pretty staggering.
