Oh, just go. The most you'll lose is ten bucks.

There's a link on the official site to record your thoughts concerning the film, where I found this:

"Love isn't to be understood but to be honoured and powerfully felt. I haven't seen the film yet- couldn't get a ticket at the Toronto film festival- but I have experienced love like this- Steve is now gone twelve years ago after a ten year relationship. And like the movie's conclusion, I too know the loss. But always- I will remember the love -and without even seeing the film--only the previews and having read the book- It will be a day for my soul."

If my reaction to this simple paragraph is any indication, I'm going to need to be carried out of the theatre.

I have become instantly addicted to reading the stories shared on the site. I am incredibly touched by many of them, especially the ones that talk about receiving a sense of validation.

And I'm scared. I'm very scared I'm going to roar out of the theatre screaming, "HOW DARE YOU! HOW DARE YOU! HOW DARE YOU!" . . . and not be able to stop.

i so have to start the book today and finish it (which won't be hard since it's less than 60 pages) before the film this weekend.

Harris - just for a different point of view, I was incredibly moved by the number of people who made statements of thanks because they finally felt their particular kind of experience has been depicted - they no longer felt alone with their pain. That's an incredibly powerful gift. And even if that's ALL this film does, then there was purpose to it completely.

I find the photo of Jake as an older man to be extremely haunting, not just because of the look on his face, but because it seemed very easy to imagine him being middle-aged.

I look forward to seeing him mature. He was great in Donnie Darko, but he has only gotten better with age.
