Ang Lee has signed on to direct the big-screen version of one of the most achingly passionate gay short stories ever written, "Brokeback Mountain," according to news reports. i've never heard of this piece. anyone know about it?

What other books of hers did you buy?

i bought the anthology that paljoey told me about "close range: wyoming stories" since brokeback mountain on its own cannot be found other than a third party seller.

Well I hope you enjoy them. I remember Brokeback Mountain being published as a stand alone novella in the UK not too long ago, it can't be out of print already?

RobbO...I found the book at an Australian Online bookstore. Seems the US you have to wait until November 15th for it to be released.

Which will be the film tie in cover. I really don't like those.

i don't like the film tie-in books either that's why i was trying to get the original one. i searched at several large bookstores this weekend but they didn't have it. they told me that it would be available in november. yeah, hello, it's august.

so i ordered it online from some UK seller until paljoey told me that brokeback was part of the anthology that i found online at amazon.

i'd rather go thru amazon than a private seller, plus i got more book for my buck.

Isn't that funny..I hate the movie covers on books too...maybe we should start a club..or a support group.

I'm so glad it isn't just me on the film tie in front. If I want to read a book and it's been republished in a film tie in format, I will hunt high and low until I find an old copy of it.

i do it because i don't want people to think that i'm buying the book just because of the movie (which i am) but i don't want people to think that.

Look out for my entire social circle as extras in this movie. All my friends had a summer job of being extras, and it payed really well. It was all filmed around my hometown, and that scenery you are going to see is what I get to see every day when I look out my window or go for a run.
