I have no idea what Ciderella Man is all about - I can't stand Russell Crowe so I won't see it. It's just something that I heard this morning on the news.
It's just another biopic in the cookie-cutter style of A BEAUTIFUL MIND. Man overcomes obstacles to be a notable person, with a bit of help from his supportive feminine costar.
And wouldn't it be far fetched for the Academy to award a boxing movie the award two years in a row?

I really want to see this movie, but I don't think my mom will let me. My dad will definatly refuse.

Doesn't this open December 9th nationwide? Has anyone seen any television ads for it yet? I'm surprised that I havent seen any.
I'm really looking forward to this and it certainly looks like a Best Picture nominee...Time is the only review that Ive read thats been negative so far. I do think it will be a tough win. Hopefully, the good reviews will send people into the theatres despite the subject matter and it will achieve that level of box office success usually required of a Best Picture winner (not blockbuster, but at least somewhat successful.)
Limited release on the 9th. NY/LA/SF.
Haven't seen many TV ads, but have seen the preview before almost every movie I've seen this past month.

You most likely will not see TV ads. Lee was here in San Francisco last week for a special screening and mentioned that because of the subject matter a TV ad would not air until 8:00 pm or later and marketing in Movie Theaters was a better use of the budget.
Well, JUST as I am loudly predicting a win by Brokeback Mountain, the first reports about the quality of Munich come out. It's the cover of Time magazine and would seem to be Brokeback's competition, if not the clear winner.

I just saw an ad on Logo for a one hour behind the scenes documentary on Brokeback - tomorrow, December 5th at 10:00 pm.Just a heads up for those on this thread.
I'd watch it, but if I hear those two talk about how the characters aren't really gay or how excruciating it was to perform the love scenes, I will break my TV.

Um - the fact that the characters ARE gay and they make no bones about it in the film should not be a subject of the doc. I have seen the film twice and it's very clear that they are men in love but afraid of their feelings - so they make the choice to seperate as freinds and lead artificial exsistances. Even Ledger's wife in the film knows he is gay and confronts him about it. Have they spoken out about being uncomfortable about the filming? Or are you channelling Sylvia Brown? I don't think it's fair of you to jump ahead like that, but that's just me.
No, I have read interview after interview where they go on about it as if it were a rape or murder scene.
And, both have made statements that their characters aren't really gay. This, of course, I disagree with.

Well - if that be the case they are shoe ins for the Oscar. That's what they get for casting breeders in the film.
I still am excited about the film and adore the actors. I just wish they would be men about it--and be educated about it.
still can't deside if i'm gonna see this or not
RONFLOL

I know one issue it's gonna bring up.
