Posted: 8/20/05 at 11:28amMJR - I've been saying all along that the story this is derived from is anything but a 'lovely romance'. It deals with denial and ultimate despair. It's all well and good to think the idea of Jake and Heath rutting in the wilderness is hot - but that really doesn't have much to do with the story that's being told. Unless, of course, as often happens, they completely rewrite Ms. Proulx's story.

If you haven't read E. Annie Proulx's novella-the basis for the film-I highly recommend it.

unfortunatly, it seems even amazon doesn't have the book for sale anymore (neither do my local bookstores). they're waiting on the hardcover and paperback tie-in books that are coming out in november.
i bought a copy today, but i had to use amazon's "other marketplace" sellers which i've never done before. hopefully the quality will be the same as amazon and the shipping time just as quick.
