No, not all couples get amrried to have children. for the last time, accidents do happen. Many married couples do have sex with no intention of children, but accidents do happen (even the most fool-proof protection can fail). That's the big difference between straight and gay couples.

Oh by the way, JRB, anyone who believes that gay relationships and straight relationships should be treated differently before the law (whether for procreation reasons, benefits reasons, relaigious reasons) is a homophobe. Oh, they'll deny it and scream and give you all kinds of so-called logical or historical reasons, but they're homophobes nonetheless.

i never said anything about treating them differently, but to state that there is no difference between them offends my sense of logic.

I really take a offense to that. Someone has a different POV and you call them names. I am not homophobe, I'm just pointing out that there doesn't seem to be any real reason for gay marriages by the government.

I'm gonna say something. JRB, I don't care if someone does have a sense of humor or not. Anyone who wants to come here where, let's face it, there's a lot of us homo's and say that there is no reason for us to have the right to marry and have the same rights as every other person in the country can go to hell. This whole post really just pisses me off.

i want to thank you all for this thread, whether or not you've been pissed off by it. i have learned very much from reading it. everytime i see something that is romotley political around here i usually read it (i get to vote for the first time this year) and it helps to get diverse opinions. my parents are right-wingers and i seldom hear different sides of the issues.

and i dont see how the difference in procreation warrents gays to not have marriage rights. in fact, the fact that this is even an issue is starting to make me sick.
