edit: Look down. It's not just about orchids, anymore. HaHa.
Yeah, I don't have much more to say than that. I just haven't made a thread in awhile.

Aaah, to be in the tropics...
flowers are pretty :)
Actually, so are cacti
Orchids ARE extremely pretty!
I also love RED roses, like white roses, and on rare occasions like other roses (but only under VERY rare circumstances do I like any other color, especially when that color is... *horror music* pastel!).
Cacti are wonderful. I know a French cactus who is a broadway fan (www.xanga.com/CactusAvecUnChapeau). :-P I also personally dislike it when people use the desert as symbolism for barren, because (at least in the North American deserts) they actually have an amazing and beautiful variety of both plant and animal life... (can anyone tell that my parents are science teachers yet?)
Guaria Morada (orchid)... Costa Rica's national flower.

Yes, orchids are lovely, indeed. Tropical, mysterious, and seductive in 10,000 ways, as the scent of each variety can carry you to a new memory or fantasy. God's gift to the imagination.
Today I made watermelon cookies. They're pretty, too! HaHa. I am just making this my thread for my dumb pictures, instead of scattering them throughout the board.
I just got a new camera and I heartily ran around with it in the city today.

Take a picture on the other side of the pier and you can see my apartment building.
Chicago is a great and beautiful city.
Don't forget that in addition to all of its tourist and party activities (boat cruises, IMAX, Children's Museum, shops, restaurants), Navy Pier houses the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre as well as the Skyline Stage. Last weekend DANCE FOR LIFE held it's 14th annual event at the Skyline Stage. Big money is raised yearly to help impact the lives of those with HIV/AIDS when Chicago dance companies including the world famous Joffrey Ballet and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago come together donating their time to perform. All aspects of this event come together on a voluntary basis. In addition, for several weeks before the event dancers rehearse a finale (comprised of dancers from all of the companies) choreographed new each year especially for this event.
Later today, I'm taking a visiting friend from London on an Architectural Boat Tour.
hopefully glebb it's the aritectural society architectural boat cruise, the 1.5hr one, the best
actOr, do you have any pix of yourself that do NOT look like you have tourettes syndrome?
We didn't make it to the Navy Pier garden, as the rest sucked so much we left as soon as possible.........it was like being at Disneyland/tacky mall gone bad........
Thanks Elphaba.
I'm not sure. We're showing up 1/2 hour before the 4pm cruise to get tix. We were planning on the boat that is moored at Michigan Ave and Whacker, east of Michigan Ave. Is that the one? Perhaps I should do some internet searching.
I've taken a ride on the SeaDog before. haha. I didn't think I took the long architectual one, just a short nice view.
Glebb- I've seen "Romeo and Juliet" (not the musical), "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and "The Wizard of Oz" there. I saw "The Wizard of Oz" because my friend was Dorothy, too, so that was pretty cool.
Elphaba- No, I don't SH*TF*CKCOCKSUCKER have any pics where it doesn't look like I have tourettes.
yes, that should be it........it's down the stairs from Wacker and lasts an hour and a half.......the boat is euther something like Chicago Lady, or Chicago First Lady......it's the ONLY one that's an hour and a half......
the other one, goes from Navy Pier, and is NOT done by the arch society.....we did the one you are doing last Monday, AND LOVED IT..........it's amazing!
lol, actOr.....perhaps have a few taken, you look like you might be cute somewhere under all the faces, tongue out, and rest of the junk ;oP
Thanks Elphaba. Tickets are purchased and we are on the 4pm cruise. :)
The river cruise is wonderful because you get to see the buildings from a totally different perspective than when you are just walking around on ground level.
Navy Pier is a nice place to see the skyline and enjoy the lake IF you can get past all the tourist crap. I enjoy it during the off season on a weekday afternoon. It is a great place to sit and read or write.
Plus they gots a Bubba Gump Shrimps Company! I love my BGSC visor!
I never go to Navy Pier except to browse the Russian store or see Shakespeare (ActOr, I too saw and loved Joseph there), IMAX, or Dance For Life. I missed seeing "Anyone Can Whistle" this year because of DFL, but it was a wonderful evening.
Here I am looking normal, at another hotspot of Chicago.
