I don't see how, but according to CNN, McCain/Rice beats either Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton in NY. I still don't see how Rice helps McCain, and I have trouble see that ticket as a reality, but if these numbers can be supported, I guess it's possible.

Well, think of the DNC tv ads that can be run. Ms. Rice sitting before congress, forced to read the subject of the famous ignored memo, "Bin Laden determined to strike US..." etc. She is at the very least a co-dependent to two of the major foreign policy debacles, and as Iraq rages on, she is an easy target. Her being joined at the hip trumps her being black or a woman. When it comes to policy, she's about as white male conservative establishment as it gets.

A bigger problem: She's never been vetted as a candidate. No one knows her opinions on ANYTHING other than Bush's middle east f--k-ups. From gay marriage to SPAMALOT, which she attended after a full day of shoe shopping during Katrina. She's very vulnerable as a candidate, and the Republicans know that any initial "ooooh, a black woman!" angle will be trumped by the many unanswered questions about her.

McCain and anyone can and will beat the Democrats this fall. The groundhog has seen his shadow. There will be four more years of winter.

If you don't take polls with a grain of salt, your head will explode. They're 1000-1500 people on a single day, from which the pundits draw conclusions that are different the next day when another 1000-1500 people poll differently.

Polls are like reviews: The only ones worth paying attention to are the ones that agree with you--the GOOD ones!

(That was a joke. Sort of.)

In the same way that everyone is giving Obama a free pass. That's how a liberal media thinks: "Let's get anyone in other than a white guy."

There is no liberal media.

Yeah, those poor white guys--will they EVER get a break?

"Yeah, those poor white guys--will they EVER get a break?"

The point is not about white guys. The point is that there are many people out there who want to elect Obama just to cross a mile marker. His inexperience doesn't matter to them.

The media tends to favor the candidate they like best as a person. Experience didn't' matter when they embraced George W Bush, either.

And the only Poll that matters is the one you vote at on election day.

I'm speaking in generally understood shorthand about the white male power establishment that has long ruled. Ms. Rice's track record, allegiances and proven loyalty bespeak the soul of a true believer. The point here is that neither her gender nor her race are indicative of a philosophy. She and McCain are two peas in a pod, regardless of color or genitalia.

Yep, you're right--people can't wait to put a black man in power and you are the FIRST to raise questions about Obama's "inexperince."

Too bad you weren't around in the 1800s to keep that neophyte Lincoln from being elected! He was nothing more than an Illinois State Senator with a law degree and some good speeches under his belt.

The point is not how much the media likes Obama. They will turn on him if he beomes the Democratic candidate.

The point is how much the media likes McCain. They will never turn on him.

Goth--why does the "liberal" media put Teflon coatings around Republicans like Reagan, Bush and McCain?

How is that"liberal"?

"Goth--why does the "liberal" media put Teflon coatings around Republicans like Reagan, Bush and McCain?"

What media are you talking about? You think Bush has had a Teflon coating with people like Dan Rather running stories about him skipping out on his military duty?

You mean the Dan Rather who was fired for those stories? And just because the documents were fake doesn't mean the story was.

I tire of pointing this out, but look at 2000. Gore claiming to invent the internet was a huge story. Bush going AWOL from his national guard duty wasn't. One was proven false, by the way.

"Bush going AWOL from his national guard duty wasn't."

What planet do you live on? The story came out right before the election and was a desperate attempt to get people to vote against Bush. The documents were forged, those involved with the facts were sketchy. It was a huge story.

You think Bush has had a Teflon coating

Yes, I do. He lied to the American people about the reasons for an illegal, immoral, preemptive war, and the conservative media gave him a pass.

He committed treason by outing a CIA agent and endangering her undercover work on Iranian nuclear proliferation, as well as endangering the lives of her colleagues here and in Iran, and the conservative media gave him a pass.

He authorized unprecedented, un-Christian and un-American torture and unconstitutional illegal surveillance of American citizens, and the conservative media gave him a pass.

After 7 years of unchecked Bush/Cheney excesses, don't you think your "liberal media" shibboleth is wearing a little thin?

"and the conservative media gave him a pass."

There is no conservative media in the US. Fox is the only remotely balanced media (Murdoch gave money to Hillary; his daughter to Obama). All the rest are liberal.

They are not. The NY Times and the Washington Post and CNN SUPPORTED YOUR ILLEGAL WAR.

They are not liberal. A liberal media would have challenged the status quo. They supported it.

Stop saying the media is liberal. That is a shibboleth that has long since been discredited.

It was reported as a lie. The coverage was, from the start, pro-bush. The lie about Gore is still reported as truth to this day.

FYI if you Google "Gore invented internet" you get 260,000 hits.

Bush A.W.O.L you get 96,000.
