John Boy, seriously lay off the crack. You get dumber with each post.

Everything is Rent, the fact that you would find American Carol funny I think says it all. As I said in another thread, you refuse to believe your eyes and ears when it comes to "your candidate". You are in denial. According to you, the majority on BWW is wrong and supports a candidate who rubs elbows with terrorist. Why post here? There are those like Papa who post who have a different opinion, but ya know what? These posters are smart. They something we call CREDIBILITY. Look it up

You all know that Ayers was not acquitted, right? That he admitted to everything he was accused of? The case was dismissed because the FBI screwed up due process?

"According to you, the majority on BWW is wrong and supports a candidate who rubs elbows with terrorist"

Again, more things I never said. I never once said ANYONE was wrong for voting for Obama or anyone else. I merely questioned some things about a candidate that bothered me, and I still haven't been given any response other than "but..but BUSH!! and Palin!! they are BAD!" I'm trying to have an honest, civil debate, but I still don't know what makes one "credible" to you other than thinking exactly the same way YOU do.

You never said it but you agree with McCain and Palin. Spare me the fair and honest civil debate. I suggest you go back and read your posts in the American Carol forum.

There are some here with different political views who fit and get along just fine. Why don't you tell us all why McCain and Palin are better than Obama. Give us your reasons. Also, I keep asking but you keep dodging the question.

According to you, BWW is filled with America Hating liberals. Why would you want to have anything to do with us? Why? Do tell.

You can't have an honest, civil debate with an insane, shrill shrew, whose every response is about how everyone who has a contrary viewpoint is ill or a shill for McCain.

You also can't have a debate with someone who loses all sense of perspective, deduction, intellectualism, and just flat-out information the moment the word "terrorist" is uttered.

"MeJustHavingFun, I don't know why I'm even bothering you, but honestly. There was NO and I mean NO warning when or where we were going to be hit. There was NO reason to think planes would be used as missles."

"The Chicago Sun-Times reported that:

The FBI had advance indications of plans to hijack U.S. airliners and use them as weapons, but neither acted on them nor distributed the intelligence to local police agencies. From the moment of the September 11th attacks, high-ranking federal officials insisted that the terrorists’ method of operation surprised them. Many stick to that story. Actually, elements of the hijacking plan were known to the FBI as early as 1995 and, if coupled with current information, might have uncovered the plot.”

"A 2004 USA Today article, "NORAD had drills of jets as weapons", describes pre-9/11 NORAD drills that suggest they were prepared for such an attack as happened on 9/11:

"In the two years before the September 11 attacks, the North American Aerospace Defense Command conducted exercises simulating what the White House says was unimaginable at the time: hijacked airliners used as weapons to crash into targets and cause mass casualties. One of the imagined targets was the World Trade Center. In another exercise, jets performed a mock shootdown over the Atlantic Ocean of a jet supposedly laden with chemical poisons headed toward a target in the United States. In a third scenario, the target was the Pentagon — but that drill was not run after Defense officials said it was unrealistic."

"The 9/11 Commission Report states that "the 9/11 attacks were a shock, but they should not have come as a surprise. Islamic extremists had given plenty of warnings that they meant to kill Americans indiscriminately and in large numbers." The Report continued:

"During the spring and summer of 2001, U.S. intelligence agencies received a stream of warnings about an attack al Qaeda planned, as one report puts it "something very, very, very big." Director of Central Intelligence George Tenet told us "the system was blinking red.""

The US administration, CIA and FBI received multiple prior warnings from foreign governments and intelligence services, including France, Germany, the UK, Israel, Jordan, Afghanistan, Egypt, Morocco and Russia. The warnings varied in their level of detail, but all stated that they believed an Al Qaeda attack inside the United States was imminent. British Member of Parliament Michael Meacher cites these warnings, suggesting that some of them must have been deliberately ignored."

"The man was in office for EIGHT MONTHS when this happened, so no, the terrorists didn't create their awful attack the day Bush was elected."

And what? The threat was there. He should be ready on day 1!

"This was something NO President has ever had to deal with,"

Really? Have you ever read American history?

"and there is NOTHING the man could have done after that attack that would have been acceptable to you and many other Democrats."

So tying this great tragic even with Iraq so he could invade was acceptable?

"We haven't found Bin Laden because he's hiding in a friggin cave."

We have the greatest military on Earth. I don't understand how this is even remotely possible, he is the most wanted man in the world. People talk man they talk.

"How do you KNOW Bush has no regard to their safety?"

HE NEVER SENT ENOUGH TROOPS! They didn't have an exit strategy and they didn't have the right gear! He sent them because he tried to CONNECT 9/11 with Sadaam! HE LIED HE LIED HE LIED. You cannot justify HIS LIES. HE lied. Those lies caused the death of these brave people.

"I think, as Americans, we can definitely agree we DO want this war to end responsibly and have our troops home ASAP. Blaming Bush for eternity won't make that happen. "

No but admitting the truth behind this war instead of continued lies would let the American public know they had options and still do. Despite all this McCain wants to keep them there for as long as possible. FOR WHAT? LIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is all very valiant of you to post those things, mejust but you don't understand: The word "terrorist" was uttered. This makes facts, logic, and history completely null and void.

I'm curious as to what YOU would have done in response to such "detailed warnings." Should Bush have halted all air travel from Day One? What, in your opinion, was ONE option that Bush had that would have caused you to respect and agree with him. I really want to know. Hindsight is always 20/20. Yes, I do know history and i'm pretty sure we've never had terrorists (sorry, Boy, I know you hate that word) crash planes into buildings in 2 major cities. Correct me if that had happened before.

"I'm curious as to what YOU would have done in response to such "detailed warnings." Should Bush have halted all air travel from Day One?"

I would have contacted the FAA and asked them to beef up security. Those planes were brought down by flaws in security. When they were being hijacked (at separate times) the airlines didn't even know what to make of it. They should have known what Bush knew. The World Trade Centers should have been evacuated minutes after the 1st Tower was hit. Instead NOTHING happened.

Bush could have communicated with all levels of government and let them know this was possible and it was likely. All the facts he knew. Instead he has Rice lie under oath that this was not foreseen.

You can say my suggestion is Pollyanish but it's not. The 9/11 Commission (which I have a lot of problems with) came to the same conclusion. And guess what? We have beefed up security that keeps people from carrying box-cutters onto flights.

"I do know history and i'm pretty sure we've never had terrorists (sorry, Boy, I know you hate that word) crash planes into buildings in 2 major cities. "

No but that is not what I was responding to, you said "This was something NO President has ever had to deal with, and there is NOTHING the man could have done after that attack that would have been acceptable to you and many other Democrats. "

We have been attacked before and presidents have had to deal.

My questions to you, 1) do you feel the war in Iraq was a mistake? 2) do you believe George Bush lied us into it?

Well, this is more of the kind of debate I was hoping for. Thank you, MJHF! I think your answer is all well and good, but can't help but feel, again, hindsight is always 20/20. I agree 100% the Towers should have been evacuated IMMIDATELY. There was so much confusion on ALL levels of government that day, there is no question. Would a Presidential warning have changed things? Maybe, but remember, people ALREADY hated the guy and thought he was a dumbass. I do wish we could have changed the way things were handled. I will agree airport security was and sometimes still IS a joke. No boxcutters should have been allowed in the first place. There is no excuse for that.

Yes, other Presidents have dealt with attacks and tragedy, but you have to admit this was a unique situation. Now, to answer your questions.

1) do you feel the war in Iraq was a mistake?

The short answer is, i'm honestly not sure. Was it a mistake to pull focus from Afghanistan and the search for Bin Laden? Absolutely Yes. I also don't think Iraq was a land of sunshine and rainbows before the Big Bad Americans came in and screwed it all up. I do believe the world as a whole is better off without Saddam, and I have great hope Iraq WILL become a stable example of democracy. That may be Pollyannish of me as well, but that's how I feel.

2) do you believe George Bush lied us into it?

I think that everyone (Not just Bush, other world leaders as well) truely believed there were WMD's. I don't think Bush knew there wasn't and said there was. Is this war about oil? If it is, we sure aren't benefiting much, so make of tha twhat you will.
