William Ayres was acquitted of all charges regarding the Pentagon Bombing.

Since he was ACQUITTED, legally speaking, he is NOT A TERRORIST. He should sue the McCain campaign, and Sarah Palin in particular, for LIBEL.

Bottom line is that there's absolutely nothing new here, and there's no smoking gun. McCain needs a game changer, and this ain't it. While I really wish this would have been a campaign strictly on issues, I guess Obama's substantial lead this late in the campaign made this inevitable. Given that, it's smart of Obama to go on the offensive.

It doesn't have to be new. Willie Horton wasn't new. The ads with Ayres and the flag are intended to solidify the base and get them to vote, not persuade Independents.

But there has to be a Zeitgeist for this sort of thing, and I don't think Ayres or Keating will be very effective. These ads will just being out equal numbers of voters who might have stayed home.

The October Surprise will have to be a lot juicier.

Palin should really check herself. Her affiliation with sessesionists IS something actually akin to domestic terrorism. Not to mention her hypocritical views on the state of Israel.

Don't get me started with John McCain's affiliations with the Saudi Royal family who contribute regularly to terrorism organizations.

I hope it's not effective but who knows how McCain & Fox News will present this.

It will be interesting if this has traction- if this "Association" brings down Obama there will pretty much be no Chicago politician who's untainted. Ayers has been active in Chicago politics for three decades.

Before you say it's "false," please do your research. There is much that documented evidence that needs to be known by the American public, and we need to be very careful who we elect. Many are convinced from doing their own research that Sarah Palin is speaking the truth, not just because she says it but because of documented evidence. Advice to you - don't dismiss this as campaign hype - check into it and you may learn a lot.

It's absolute desperation and a flip flop from McCain's stance on smear tactics during the primary.

It's annoying listening to GOP pundits from Bachman to Hasselbeck defend Palin, but it's sad and desperate listening to them defend this kind of dirty politics.

I wonder if this campaign will do irreparable harm to Palin at the national level. She was thrown into this much too soon, and she was obviously unprepared. She does have a compelling life story, and undeniable charisma. However, these interviews she's completely blown are forver preserved on video, and that's so much more compelling than blunders in print. If McCain had chosen someone else for VP, Palin might have been able to grow into a viable presidential candidate in 2012 or 2016. However, I think she may be damaged goods for anyone outside the conservative wing of the Republican party.

I don't. People, other than here at BWW, generally dislike the media. And, people like Katie Couric and Charlie Gibson, aren't exactly favorites. Just look at their ratings! There's nothing in this campaign that she cannot overcome. She'll be the first female president of the United States.

The Bush administration has left this country feeble. Every single part of our infrastructure has either cracked or crumbled. We have two wars (if not more) and a have lost to a group of bandits that set out to destroy our nation and succeed by proxy.

I agree that the next four years will be a challenge, and 2012 will be an opportunity for the Republicans. However, dislike of the media or not, the majority of Americans find Palin unqualified. In four years, Pawlenty or Jindal may be much more viable candidates.

I think Sarah's caught in a real tough situation right now. Go down with the sinking ship or do what the Clinton's are doing and play along.

Sarah's got game though. I doubt very much she will fade from the national spotlight and her base will continue to grow behind her. It has now become sadly clear you need 4 years to win a presidential election (see Obama). She will have that, and she needs good people focused in that direction.

Yeah, because we all know that CNN reports the news without any opinions mixed in. Next to NBC, CNN is the most biased network.

The fact is that there are several trails that connect Obama to Ayers. Most recently it was reported that in 1997, Michelle Obama chose Ayers to be a panel guest at University of Chicago. (Since that time, Ayers has been photographed stepping on an American flag, so obviously his hatred hasn't changed much).

The Obamas have many associations with these people, more than just a casual passing, and they need to be investigated.
