Cain Suspends Campaign, Blames EVERYONE But Himself

UPDATED: Suspends his campaign even though HE DID NOTHING WRONG.All the media's fault,of course. He is playing the Sarah Palin card and playing the victim.
He can not LIE his way out of this one. His latest accuser has 60+ Texts and messages from his phone number to hers. His Lawyer tried damage control but the media is not as gullible as he wishes they were.
So, will Rush and those on FOX NEWS apologize to his other accusers? Rush said they were all lying and that they were Democrats out to destroy Cain. Will Herman be man enough to confess that he did have an affair with this woman for 13 years? I do not feel sorry for his wife at all.

Like John Edwards,Anthony Weiner, and other Democrats and Republicans, these Arrogant SOB's who actually think they can run for office and get away with this astound me.
Oh, and what is up with Cain's lawyer informing the media that they are not allowed to question him about this because he has already made a statement? The arrogance of this idiot!

Posted: 11/29/11 at 12:59pmI don't think a person's sexual encounters should be of any importance in running for office. As long as they are legal and between consenting adults. I just don't understand why, when these things start coming to light the candidates just don't say, " Yes, we had an affair, it was between consenting adults and not any of your business." This disarms the media. By trying to deny it, casting doubt on the accuser they just feed the media feeding frenzy and back themselves into a corner.

Well I think it has to do with the breaking of a sacred vow to his wife that is the issue SNAFU.
It certainly calls into question one's trustworthiness.
I think it's kind of funny though since he apparently was "told by God" to run. Not putting much stock in that divine request I see.

I agree, Snafu. I saw a story on MSNBC last night where a pundit was justifying the media's coverage of these issues by saying the public has a right to judge a candidate on any criteria they choose, including things like this. And that the press then has a duty to report these things.
The way I see it is that the media, by feeding this supposed public need to elect its leaders based on morals, validates the entire notion of moral judgment. And the problem with that is that it extends to include more than the popular easy moral judgments like fidelity. And validates the notion that someone's sexual preference is also a judgment worthy scandal.
The scandal here should be his lying, not his sex life.

I agree it's the lying, but it's also the blatant hypocrisy. By signing on to the GOP - especially to be a GOP candidate - you're implicitly agreeing to judge and be judged by a very narrow strain of what's considered "morality" and "family values." That's not the media's fault, it's the GOP's.
You can't run for office on a platform of restricting marriage to what you claim "God" says it is, you can't demonize people for consensual sexual behavior that has nothing to do with you and then claim your own life and choices are beyond scrutiny. Well, I mean you can if you're Newt Gingrich, but like I said, this is the GOP's own doing.

Posted: 11/29/11 at 1:44pmI never saw anything the least bit attractive about Candidate Cain: Willfully ignorant on foreign policy, a flash point temper, zero experience and a cockamamie plan to raise taxes on the poorest and slash them for the rich- as Grandma Essie used to say "What's to like?"

Posted: 11/29/11 at 1:50pmI'm sorry. I think there's something profoundly F*CKed up with this world where this man can survive the allegations of sexual harrassment (if not outright assault), but then has to step down because of a consensual affair. I think it's actually a really ugly indictment of how we view women in this society.

It's a fascinating hole the GOP has dug itself into by allowing the Religious Right to make "The Sanctity of Marriage" a platform.
They sign those pledges thinking that the only thing that can sully the institution of marriage is letting gays get ahold of it.
Then they realize they've held a mirror up to their own inner selves.
As Barney Frank said yesterday about Newt Gingrich: "I think he is an ideal opponent for us when we talk about who it is that is threatening the sanctity of marriage."

I don't think a single Republican thinks there is anything the least bit hypocritical about loudly defending the sanctity of marriage while engaging in multiple extramarital affairs. If there is I never met one.
In fact, hypocrisy in general does not bother them

Well, I was disappointed with John Edwards when it came out that he had an affair and a child. For some reason when he denied it I knew he was lying. So,any politician who seeks public office but tells the media he won't discuss an accusation is arrogant and stupid. Just wait. Cain will do what ALL THE REPUBLICANS DO.Rather than blaming himself he will blame the mean spirited media for FORCING him to drop out of the campaign. He will continue to deny the FACTS while blaming Democrats, the media, and so on for his actions.

You need to be more specific. Are you talking about babymakers or whores?

Allegations of sexual harassment are one thing -- it can still be alleged to be a matter of opinion by the harasser, and without video or some kind of proof, it can be dismissed as merely anecdotal. But real evidence of a real extra-marital affair is something else entirely -- Republicans have made far too much of an issue out of this in the past for them to back away from it now.
I'd have a modicum of respect for him if he refused to withdraw and declared that one's personal life has no bearing on one's capacity to do one's job, but then of course he'd cease to be a real Republican.
Whatever. I'm mostly appalled at the fact that there are heterosexual women out there who would sleep with a douchebag like Herman Cain. Ladies, really -- vibrators are so inexpensive these days.

Also, if you subscribe to a party that makes the sanctity of marriage a core virtue, a party that actively tries to impede progress when it comes to LGBTetc issues, then yeah, I think you're own effing marriage is more than fair game. I feel the same way about that smug gasbag Newt Gingrich.

so herman cain is reassessing his campaign. i will share with y'all the advice i sent him:
black walnut! do not let the bastards win! we need you in this race, baby. c'mon, don't make the same mistake those two guys whose names i can't remember made by dropping out too soon. look at the paultard! he knows he has no shot of anything, but like a ****ing kamikazi pilot or a barroom hero he drives forward, man! now, i have a strategy for you: don't hide from the chicks, man. embrace them!
drop the black walnut and become chocolate thunder from the planet love tron. contact parliament, get permission and make chocolate city your campaign song. start making appearances in spandex and wink when you say, "999 is not all about politics, baby! chocolate thunder needs more love than an one woman can gove and there ain't no shame in it y'all. why do you think i like a deep dish? you! hot blonde reporter! you will be lightning to my thunder!
all y'all get down now on the 9's! get it with me!"
it will work.
it is my prayer that he stays. for the humor alone.

At this point, I think Vladimir Putin could announce for the GOP presidential nomination and get at least a week or two as the #1 contender.
