Hey Everyone!

As I'm sure you've heard the California Assembly voted in favor of
AB849, a bill that allows same-sex marriage in California. This bill
has already passed the state Senate, and now depends solely on the hand
of Gov. Schwarzenegger. It is still unclear what the Governor will do.
Many fear he will veto this important bill NOW IS THE TIME TO INFLUENCE
THE GOVERNOR. WE MUST BE HEARD TODAY. Takes two minutes...It is an
automated answer that allows you press 1 if your support the bill, so
call!!!

Call: 916-445-2841

Or you can email at: www.govmail.ca.gov. Choose the Same Gender -
category on the drop down menu.

The right wing is already on it with their buzz phrase, "The will of
the people," regarding Prop 22- the anti-gay marriage initiative.

Remember:

1. Slavery was once the will of the people
2. Women had no voice in voting-will of the people
3. No housing/work protection for LGBT-will of the people
4. No child labor laws-once the will of the people
5. No labor laws-once the will of the people
6. CALL! CALL! WRITE! CALL!

It's kind of like voting for American Idol, just a little more
relevant in our daily lives. :)

best,
cam

Yes, it's out. He's going to veto the bill.

Once again, our leaders are losers.

Remind me. How many years is it until California voters can veto this empty suit who used to star in a bunch of crappy movies?

Sadly, I tend to agree that he's gonna veto it, no question. But I occasionally have tiny rays of hope that maybe people are starting to wake up a little bit.

*shivers* I've had nightmares about Gallagher for years.

Aside from the things camthom mentioned I'd suggest possibly relating some of the experiences Schwarzenegger must have had in the past as a foreigner coming to America with the discrimination gays have experienced.

I'd really like to think that Arnold is a good man overall and that he isn't really dirty in his politics. I understand why he would feel like he would have to veto the bill, but I don't think he understands the support he would get in California if he let it pass.

Maybe he'll let it pass if he's elected again and it resurfaces. It can be voted on again even if he vetoes it once right?

"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter
