Do you guys usually do callbacks for your shows? How are they usally done at your school? Have you ever had anyone who DIDN'T make callbacks get a part?

Call back list is posted the night after Auditions and then that night we go again. Reading what the Dir. tells us to read and then singing what we are told to sing. It isnt bad at all. I really like call backs because you know they have it narrowed down. I have see it where extras dont get called back... but that isnt very offten

Yep, what Becca said. I adore callbacks, because you know you made it through the first round of cuts, and that's a great feeling. Typically, they'll size you up, too...make you read scenes with different people, to see how you look with everyone else who was called back for different parts. Sometimes, those who don't make callbacks will get a very small cameo appearance, but more often than not they'll be in the chorus. Which can be just as fun.

My school only had us do one audition for all of the shows we were doing that particular year. So it basically was an audition for 9 shows all at the same time. And we never had callbacks. They casted all of the shows from that one audition. I don't think that's the normal way high schools do it though.

We had auditions for Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf? and some people got callbacks and read some scenes, but the girl who was cast as Martha (the leading female) didn't get a callback. The director told us later, that he was so blown away by her audition that he didn't need to see her again.

At my school callbacks were just when the director was having a difficult time choosing between two people for a role. So most people don't get called back.

And its more nervewracking than anything because both of you get called into the room and the director just keeps asking the two of you to read until she makes a decision. Not so fun having direct competition like that.

At my high school, people who get called back, are the ones who are in the show. Except for the straight plays. You know that if you didn't get a callback for the musical, you didn't get it. At least that's how it went this year.

it depends on how the director runs things. some of the shows I've been in, if you don't get called back you're either not in the show or you have a definite part. My director in high school ONLY called back for parts he wasn't sure of. It was kind of nerve racking too cause you couldn't freak out if you wern't called back but you really wanted to lol.

callbacks at my highschool are nuts sometimes. it's really rare that they won't have a callback for a certain part, unless they're absolutely sure about it. most of the time there are callbacks for leads, one day for girls, one day for boys. then the cast list is posted. usually if you aren't called back, you didn't get a lead/the part you tried out for. but you usually still get a smaller part. depending on the show and everything.

i hate auditions and callbacks. okay i don't hate them persay...they are just so stressful and nervewracking, especially if i really want the part. that is just me though.
